The Property of a Gentleman and Racing Enthusiast1936 Riley 12/4 Kestrel SpriteRegistration no. DGF 972Chassis no. SS27K5227Odometer reading: 00733MOT expiry date: N/A * A genuine SS chassis numbered Kestrel Sprite* Upgraded with modern wheels and tyres* Good body, paint and a newer interior Revered by many vintage car enthusiasts as an exceptional powerplant that compares well with much more exotic machinery, the heart of any Riley is the wonderful twin-camshaft engine, which gives excellent performance from just 1,087 cc. Introduced in 1926, the four-cylinder unit went on to power various Rileys, until 1957. The new for 1936 Kestrel 6-light sports saloon was offered with the 12/4 1,496cc Sprite engine giving 61bhp; sporting twin carburettors. Complementing this fine power unit is the ENV Wilson pre-selector four-speed gearbox and Girling mechanical rod-operated brakes with a patented operating mechanism. This six-light Kestrel was built on the 112.5' long-wheelbase chassis and was purchased by the vendor in 2016. He has since fitted the Kestrel with 16 inch wheels and radial tyres. The sprite engine has been replaced by a standard tune 12/4 engine, which is currently running without a waterpump. The Kestrel has an attractive body, thought to have been designed by Stanley Riley and built at the Riley works, finished in a lovely combination of red over grey. The leather seats have been recovered at some time. There is some history with the car, including the older V5C registration document; the car now has a new style V5C. Presently running and driving, but having not seen active use in recent years further works and some recommissioning are still necessary. Please click the link to view the walkaround video of this lot: click hereFootnotes:Vendor Score Total: 60/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1958 Citroen 2CV FourgonetteRegistration no. 226 XVEChassis no. 556007Odometer reading: 26,400kmMOT Expiry: N/A*Rare 2CV vintage ripple van*Recently restored to a very high standard*Unique Michelin tyre livery*Low mileage and single family ownership until 2014 The Citroen 2CV is a French classic that is world renowned for its incredible versatility. This 2CV Fourgonette is a prime example of that, and is now also increasingly rare. This low mileage 1958 example was imported into the UK from France in 2014, and had been previously owned by a single family in France since new. The car has since undergone a complete ground up restoration with all the receipts, photos and documents included. The van has had a new exhaust, wings, brakes, tyres, battery and many other new parts. The van has also been rewired with everything working as it should. The body has received fresh paintwork being finished in the iconic Gris Clair colour scheme. The chassis has also received extensive work, and has been finished in gloss black to ensure protection. The van runs and drives very well, and is fitted with front indicators for safety purposes (these can also be removed if desired). A spare fan, clutch and plate is included in the sale. The mileage is incredibly low for a vehicle of this age at 26,400km, and also comes with a large history file. This 2CV could certainly provide an incoming owner with much enjoyment and practicality for many more years to come.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 84/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1928 Singer JuniorRegistration no. RO 8983Chassis no. 5235Odometer reading. 10,819MOT expiry date. Exempt*A fine quality car from the 1920s with OHC engine*Comprehensive history file available*Maintained and improved over the yearsThis Singer Junior is a charming and unusual alternative to the ubiquitous Austin Seven. With its 848cc OHC engine and four-wheel rod-operated brakes, it will convey four adults at the heady pace of 45 mph. First registered in 1928 in Middlesex, according to a tax disc, little is known of this car's history until the 1950s when it resided with various keepers in Hertfordshire, Essex and Wales before moving to the West country and Derbyshire and then Yorkshire, all recorded in the car's history, included in the original log book. There is a large history file available for inspection, including past tax discs, MOT certificates etc, and records of work done on the car. This work has included a magneto overhaul; re-lining of the brakes; two new bearings fitted to the gearbox; changing of the crown wheel and pinion and repairs to the exhaust/inlet manifold. The files also contains considerable information about Singer engines and photocopies of information from Singer Junior handbook. It was last used on the road in 2019, before the owner passed away and has been carefully stored since then. We have run and driven the Singer for photographs recently where it ran very well indeed. However careful recommissioning is recommended prior to seeing active use once more. It has been shown twice at Singer National Rallies, winning awards both times: 2012: Best Vintage Car and in 2017, Best in Class. A charming light car perfect for VSCC events.
