Win Hayman (UK - 1840s) & Queen Victoria's hair 'A View of HMRC Victoria,' 1847, watercolour, signed lower right. Provenance: (reputedly) obtained from a Miss Hayward of thye Isle of Wight, in 1979. Her grandfather, the artist, was the Captain of Queen Victoria's racing cutter, 'Victoria.' His sister was a Lady in Waiting to the Queen, and on one of her frequent visits to Osborne House, one of her duties was to cut the Queen's hair. The ocean plait that is included within the frame of the picture was made from the cut hair of the Queen. In a vintage wood frame, possibly original to the picture. Ex: Sydney Maritime Model Museum, (32cm X 40cm approx).
