AUTOGRAPH ALBUM: An 8vo leather bound autograph album containing over 20 signatures by various classical musicians, ballet dancers etc., including Pablo Casals, Myra Hess, Jelly d`Aranyi, Jean Pougnet, Yehudi Menuhin, Hephzibah Menuhin, Michal Hambourg, Max Rostal, Beryl Grey, Margot Fonteyn (vintage signed postcard photographs, neatly laid down), Moira Shearer, Basil Cameron etc. The album also contains a number of signatures and sentiments by family and friends of the collector, many signed and dated in Berlin 1939, before the collector was sent to London as a Kindertransport child during World War II, these signatures including Selma Springer, the paternal grandmother of American television presenter Jerry Springer, who died in a concentration camp. Some of the pages have neatly attached magazine photographs and are neatly annotated by the collector. The front cover of the album features an attractive design and the lettering Elsa`s Autograph Book appears along the spine. VG

VG After America entered the Second World War in 1941, Eleanor Roosevelt took on the role of a "universal mother" while visiting U.S. troops at home and abroad. In the autumn of 1942, Queen Elizabeth invited the First Lady to England where she could observe the British women’s contribution to the war effort, and visit U.S. troops. Even Winston Churchill, with whom she often clashed, acknowledged her extraordinary impact on Great Britain. HITLER ADOLF: (1889-1945) Fuhrer of the Third Reich 1934-45. Vintage signed 7 x 9.5 photograph, a compelling image of Hitler seated in a three quarter length pose wearing his uniform featuring a swastika armband. Photograph by Heinrich Hoffmann of Munich. Signed by Hitler in bold, dark fountain pen ink across a light area of the image and dated Berchtesgaden, 5th September 1936, in his hand. One minor surface crease, just affecting one letter of the place, and some light silvering to the edges of the image, particularly at the base. About VG The photograph was presented to a member of former British Prime Minister David Lloyd-George’s party who were guests of the Fuhrer for afternoon tea at Berchtesgaden on 5th September 1936 following a more formal three hour meeting the previous day. During 1935 Lloyd-George had received several invitations from Hitler to visit the ‘new Germany’. In 1936 the invitation was renewed in pressing terms by the newly appointed ambassador Joachim von Ribbentrop. Lloyd-George genuinely wanted to see the factories, farms and new motorways of Hitler’s Germany and accepted the invitation. On his visit he was accompanied by his daughter, Megan, his son, Gwilym, his personal secretary A. J. Sylvester and Dr. T. P. Conwell-Evans, a Welsh professor at Konigsberg University who had made the initial arrangements for the trip.

GOEBBELS JOSEPH: (1897-1945) Reich Minister of Propaganda in Nazi Germany 1933-45, one of Adolf Hitler`s closest associates and most devout followers. Vintage signed postcard photograph showing Goebbels seated in a half length pose, possibly on a train, reading a newspaper. Signed (`Dr. Goebbels`) in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to the image, partially across a darker area although perfectly legible. VG

[NELSON HORATIO]: (1758-1805) British Admiral during the Napoleonic Wars, the victor of the Battle of Trafalgar, 1805. A miscellaneous collection of commemorative souvenirs etc., associated with Nelson, including Spode commemorative plate 2005 (in original box), Royal Mint commemorative plate 2004 with an illustration of HMS Victory at Trafalgar (in original box), copper tray, reproduction of a 19th century brass Nelson commemorative anchor, brass door knocker featuring a full length figure of Nelson, circular relief plaques featuring Napoleon etc., trinket box, an oak snuff box with contemporary note stating that it was made from wood from the Victory, various other small wooden artifacts made from parts of the Victory including a napkin ring, letter opener etc., vintage postcard photographs, an attractive carved ivory handled seal engraved Trafalgar etc., FR to G, 44

ABRAHAMS HAROLD: (1899-1978) British Athlete, Olympic Gold Medallist in the 100 metres sprint at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. Abrahams was immortalised in the film Chariots of Fire (1981). A vintage postcard photograph showing Abrahams crossing the line at the conclusion of the 100 metre sprint final to become the Olympic Champion at the Olympic Games of 1924 in Paris, signed in later years by Abrahams in blue ink to the verso, adding the date of the race and his winning time, 10.6 seconds, in his hand beneath his signature. Scarce. Two very small, light stains to the verso, close to, but not affecting, the signature, otherwise VG

SPORT: Selection of vintage signed newspaper and magazine photographs (7 x 11 and smaller, some irregularly trimmed), clipped signatures (2), etc. by various athletes, many of them Olympic Gold Medalists, and sportsmen, including Emil Zatopek (6), Ferenc Puskas (6), Primo Carnera, Roger Bannister (6), John Landy (the second man to break the four minute mile), Fanny Blankers Koen, Olga Gyarmati, Tore Sjostrand, John Ljunggren, Henry Eriksson, Lennart Strand etc. A few are neatly laid down, G to VG, 27
