Sergey Esenin Original vintage movie poster for a documentary film about the Russian poet, Sergey Esenin (1895-1925). Image of the poet behind silver birch trees with part of one of his poems at the top: but most of all, love for one's homeland, I was tormented, tortured and burned. Sergei Yesenin was a popular poet who was found dead in his hotel room at the Astoria/Angleterre in Leningrad/St Petersburg. His works were republished in 1966 and there is a statue of him on the boulevard ring in Moscow (19 Tverskoy Bulvar). Very good condition, folded as issued. Original vintage set of black and white photographs of stills from a 1940's Batman TV production, set of 14. Batman (or The Batman) is a 1943 black-and-white 15-chapter theatrical serial from Columbia Pictures, produced by Rudolph C. Flothow, directed by Lambert Hillyer, that stars Lewis Wilson as Batman and Douglas Croft as his sidekick Robin. The serial is based on the DC Comics character Batman, who first appeared in Detective Comics #27 in May 1939. The villain is an original character named Dr. Daka, a secret agent of the Japanese Imperial government, played by J. Carrol Naish. Rounding out the cast are Shirley Patterson as Linda Page, Bruce Wayne's love interest, and William Austin as Alfred, the Wayne Manor butler. The serial was commercially successful and in 1949, four years after World War II, spawned another Columbia chapter serial, Batman and Robin. The entire first Batman serial was re-released theatrically in 1965 as An Evening with Batman and Robin, and proved very popular. (Some theatres showed the chapters as a Saturday matinee.) Its success inspired the action-comedy lampoon series Batman (and its 1966 theatrical feature film spin-off) starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Travel original vintage poster Air France North Africa. Bernard Villemot (1911, Trouville-sur-Mer – 1989) was a French graphic artist known primarily for his iconic advertising images for Orangina, Bally Shoe, Perrier, and Air France. He was known for a sharp artistic vision that was influenced by photography, and for his ability to distill an advertising message to a memorable image with simple, elegant lines and bold colors. From 1932–1934, he studied in Paris with artist Paul Colin, who was considered a master of Art Deco. From 1945–1946, Villemot prepared posters for the Red Cross. In the late 1940s, he also began a famous series of travel posters for Air France that would continue for decades. In 1949, Villemot's works were exhibited with those of his contemporary poster artist Raymond Savignac at the Gallery of Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1953, Villemot began designing logos and posters for the new soft drink Orangina, and over time these works would become some of his best known. In 1963, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris held an exhibition of his works. By the end of his life in 1989, he was known as one of the last great poster artists, and many collectors and critics consider him to be the "painter-laureate of modern commercial art." Original vintage travel advertising poster in German promoting direct flights to Colombia, Ecuador and Peru from Europe with Avianca Colombian National Airlines, the oldest airline in the Americas represented by Pan American Airlines. Great artwork by Kurt Glombig (b 1906) featuring a young lady wearing a traditional South American design earring and a pink flower in her hair, looking towards the viewer against a soft wavy background, the text above and below in stylised purple, blue, black and yellow letters with the Aviance logo. One of the oldest airlines in the world, Avianca (Aerovías del Continente Americano S.A.) was founded in 1919 and is the national flag carrier of Colombia; at it's peak, PanAm (Pan American World Airways; 1927-1991) was the largest air carrier in America, expanding its international network after 1945. Original vintage sturdy fold-out cardboard display stand of a British policeman in a traditional blue uniform and helmet with the Queen’s Elizabeth Regina ER royal cypher badge on it. The policeman is standing straight with his right arm raised. Most likely issued by BOAC for display at travel agency offices to promote travel to London and the UK. British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) was the British state-owned airline created in 1940 by the merger of Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd. It continued operating overseas services throughout World War II. After the passing of the Civil Aviation Act of 1946, European and South American services passed to two further state-owned airlines, British European Airways (BEA) and British South American Airways (BSAA). BOAC absorbed BSAA in 1949, but BEA continued to operate British domestic and European routes for the next quarter century. A 1971 Act of Parliament merged BOAC and BEA with effect from 31 March 1974, forming today's British Airways. Near life-size. Folds flat for storage. Good condition, top half juts over the fold line, small tears and marks, staining and scuffs. UK, 1950s, size (cm): 149x36.
