Campanology - a set of eighteen vintage hand bells, the leather handles stamped for J. Shaw, Son & Co, Bradford and further stamped with its musical keynote, tallest 24 cm. CONDITION REPORT: All of the bells are in similar condition. We can see no evidence of any cracks to any of them. They are all a little tarnished and generally dirty. They all have minor surface marks and scuffs but none are misshapen and there are no substantial chips to the bell rims. All of the leather bell handles and mounts are serviceable. But all have signs of wear to the handle areas just above the brass rivets that go through the tops of the bells. This is evidenced by surface horizontal stress marks through the polished surface of the leather. All handles appear serviceable. The worst affected is bell E, where the leather is fairly close to breaking. The largest bell is G. they run in sequence from G through A, B, C, D, E, F, Fsharp, G, A, A sharp, B, C, D , E, F sharp, F, G.
A quantity of vintage and other fountain pens to include Conway Stewart and "Dinkie" and a 540 writing set, a Conway Stewart 84 and Conway Stewart 475, a Parker 61 fountain pen, assorted ballpoint pens and a Sheaffer Intrigue series fountain pen. CONDITION REPORT: The Conway Stewart writing set fountain pen has a 3/4 cm hairline crack to the lid below the top stud. This is faint but visible when viewed under a loupe. The accompanying pencil is a little dirty but not cracked. The original box is in generally good order with only minor scratches and edge scuffs. The Parker fountain pen in the case with grey barrel is missing the plated Parker mark on the top of the nib. None of the pens are personalized. The Sheaffer box is in generally good order with only minor blemishes. The Parker silver coloured box is tired, scuffed and slightly torn. There are no cracks to any of the other pens. All nibs are in good order. They are all dirty but not bent or misshapen.
A Victorian rosewood veneered sewing box, of rectangular form, the lid with inset mother of pearl medallion inscribed A Shaw, having a well appointed interior, with fitted lift out tray with numerous mother of pearl accessories and vintage packets of needles, the bottom section containing an assortment of 19th century needle cases and wallets, to include a leather wallet of Deane Dray & Co's needles, London Bridge, an ivory needle cushion with applied label for W.H. Tooke, Goldsmith Jeweller and Manufacturer... and other items. 30.5 cm wide, 13 cm high, 21 cm deep.
