SAYONARA: A vintage sepia 4to page removed from the annual publication Who's Who in Hollywood (Vol. 1, No. 13, 1958) featuring an article entitled The Golden Dozen and with text focusing on the stars of the drama film Sayonara (1957), also featuring an image of a scene from the film with Miyoshi Umeki (Katsumi Kelly) and Red Buttons (Airman Joe Kelly), individually signed by both Umeki and Buttons to a clear area of the page with their names alone. Umeki and Kelly won Best Supporting Actress and Actor Oscars for their performances in Sayonara, and autographs of Umeki are extremely rare in any form, and are particularly desirable on pieces associated with her most famous film. An unusual, small group of four vintage 6 x 8.5” (approximately 16 x 21 cm) cellulose acetate studio photographer's negatives, each depicting the King in slightly different poses, wearing his ceremonial uniform. All are contained in the original photographer's wax envelopes with ink annotations and reference numbers, as well as the date 28th April 1937. Together with a similar vintage cellulose acetate negative of the King's mother, Queen Mary, standing in a formal three-quarter length pose, also contained in the original wax envelope and dated 17th December 1937. VG, 5The present images, by an unidentified portrait photographer, of King George VI were captured in the month prior to his Coronation at Westminster Abbey on 12th May 1937 (the date previously intended for his brother, Edward's, Coronation before he abdicated).

The image shows Castro standing outdoors, shaking the hand of a female student during the ceremony of end of season at the Ana Betancourt countryside schools, alongside local authorities. Bearing to the verso the photographer´s printed name ''Korda''. A typed text referring to the event and an ink date stamp, 9th December 1967. NEHRU JAWAHARLAL: (1889-1964) Indian anti-colonial nationalist and statesman who served as the first Prime Minister of India 1950-64. A good, unusual vintage signed and inscribed 13.5 x 10.5 photograph by both Ford and Colman individually, the image depicting Ford standing in a three-quarter length profile pose, smoking a pipe, opposite Ronald Colman standing in a three-quarter length pose in costume as Dr. Martin Arrowsmith, with another gentleman, Dr. Harry W. Martin, stood in a three-quarter length pose between them, surrounded by laboratory apparatus on the set of the drama film Arrowsmith (1931). Signed in dark fountain pen ink to a light area of the image, 'To Lucila - With my best regards - Gary Cooper', further adding the words “Sergt York” and date, 1941, in his hand beneath his signature. CRAWFORD JOAN: (1905-1977) American actress, Academy Award winner. Small series of four T.Ls.S., Joan Crawford, four pages (total), 4to, New York and Los Angeles, January 1947 - June 1949, all to Fred Johnson. Crawford writes a series of social letters to her fan, in part, 'I must say I was both amused and a little sad at your letter: sad because you had tried so hard to meet me, and amused because - fortunately - you have a sense of humor. I originally intended remaining in the East for three months but it seems I have to return immediately to start my next picture and I'm terribly sorry it will be impossible for us to meet at this time. I hope you will write me in California - 426 N. Bristol Ave., West Los Angeles 24, and I promise to answer immediately' (1st January 1947), 'You were so nice to send me a card when you read that I had hurt my ankle. The newspapers exaggerated the seriousness of it, however, and I wasn't off my feet for a single day. It slowed me down for a bit - and I couldn't play tennis for a week - but the ankle is as good as new now. Am busy with story and wardrobe conferences - preparatory to starting my next picture, “Daisy Kenyon”.' (7th April 1947), 'It's so nice to hear from the Club members. I'm sorry I missed meeting you, just by a day, on my last visit to New York. Better luck next time!' (25th March 1948), 'I have been so busy at home and at the studio. At the present time I am working on preliminaries concerning my next release. I presume it will be some while yet before it will be ready for production. I appreciate your loyalty to me. To be cheered along the way by so many wonderful friends, really makes obstacles melt away' (27th June 1949). Together with seven vintage unsigned sepia snapshot photographs (5 x 4 and slightly smaller), most depicting Fred Johnson in different poses alongside Joan Crawford's signature, footprint and handprints in the cement at the forecourt of Grauman's Chinese Theatre, and two depicting the mailbox and entrance to Crawford's home at 426 N.
