The movement original but dusty, the seatboard and cheeks probably original. The case in reasonably good condition apart from the odd small tiny edge loss to the veneers, the feet with some damage. Sold with weights and a pendulum

A GEORGE III OAK LONGCASE CLOCK the brass dial signed and numbered on a reserve W Barnard Newark 679 and having matted centre, date sector, pierced hand, bird spandrels and 30 hour movement with arched plates and outside countwheel, the moulded case with ogee pediment and blind fret frieze, brass mounted pilasters and low breakarched door, on bracket feet, 201cm h ++A typical Newark longcase clock, the dial and movement original to the case but with a number of restorations; movement very dusty, one of the posts by which the movement is connected to the dial a replacement, the movement apparently complete, a hand replaced, the case stripped, structural repairs inside the hood, the seatboard an oldish replacement but the cheeks not packed or altered, some localised worm in the case and in particular the backboard and wedges, the brass hinges and lockplate to the door replacements. The base slightly reduced and the feet replaced. Sold with weight and a pendulum

A George III mahogany longcase clock, the arched moulded cornice with central vacant cartouche, glazed door flanked by fluted pilasters to a shaped trunk door flanked by three quarter pilaster columns to a fielded panelled base on ogee bracket feet, the arched dial with silvered chapter ring, Arabic and Roman numerals, engraved matted centre with secondary dial to the arch and moon phase inscribed "James Foster, Sutton" to an eight day striking movement on a bell, 242 cm high (case very damaged and with losses throughout - for restoration) CONDITION REPORTS Case very damaged throughout and with losses - for restoration. Clock is broken into numerous pieces and currently some parts of it are propped up in order to give an idea of its appearance. There are some parts of the clock case and hood missing. Wear, scuffs, knocks and chips, damage and losses. Door with cracks and losses. Large areas of moulding missing, and various sections missing. Splits and breaks. Bracket foot base with chips and losses and, as with the rest of the clock, it is broken, cracked and separated at joins. Cracks and various age cracks throughout including to pilasters. Some old worm holes. Some chips and losses and sections missing. Some dirt and mould to surfaces. Mould to interior., and lock appears to be missing. Some losses to mouldings. Moon face with quite a lot of scuffs, scratches and losses to decoration. Dial generally with quite heavy wear, scuffs, scratches and tarnish. Pendulum with rusting and tarnish and fitments loose. Weights appear to have repairs / . additional areas of metal added. No etched glass panels. Arched top (not swan neck pediment) and one side of top (arched) section appears to be missing. The two tall fluted pilasters which would fit either side of the door are present, but some sections (eg capitals) appear to be missing. Please see photos. There is no provenance available with this lot.
