A GEORGE II STYLE WALNUT CASED BRACKET CLOCK. The arched dial with moon phase above a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and tablet engraved 'James Smith London', with twin winding holes and an eight day two train movement striking on a coiled gong. The decorative case with a gilt metal handle and four matching finials, the dial flanked by further gilt mounts, on short bracket feet. 41cm high, 30cm wide.

A late 17th or early 18th century bracket clock, with an arched dial with silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted ground with visible pendulum bob, twin winding holes and date aperture, with subsidiary date and 'Silence/Sonne' dial and moon phase beneath an arch 'Claudius Du Chesne Londini Fecit, the dial 19.5cm x 13.5cm. With a two train fusee movement striking on four bells and an hour bell with pull repeat, with verge escapement and beautifully engraved back plate with cupid holding a bow and arrow amongst scrolling foliage and exotic birds. The ebonised case with all over gilt mounts and twin carrying handles, the raised top with a central finial, surrounded by four lower finials, the arch topped glazed door beneath brass fret panels and stop fluted square fronted columns, on stepped base, the sides with pierced brass panels. 41cm high, 26.5cm wide, 20cm deep. Claudius Du Chesne is recorded as working in London between 1693 and 1730.
