Subsidiary dials to the arched brass dial with silent and chimes display dial; the brass dial fitted with cast ormolu mounts to back corner, silvered chapter rings to the dial, maker or retailers name to the face, Thomas Armstrong and brothers, Manchester. Impressive mahogany case profusely inlaid with satinwood and various coloured exotic woods, with an Adams type urn to the central panel of the door; inlaid swags to the base, supported by shaped bracket feet. The hood with finely carved rosette roundels to the scrolls, with a central finial, fret work sides to the hood and finely matched Corinthian columns with capitals to both the case trunk and hood, 90'' high, 18'' wide, 12'' deep.

He was apprenticed to his uncle 1798-1805 and worked with his elder brother Jonathan until the latter's death in 1811, after which he worked alone and later with his sons Bevel and Digby Shipley. In 1806 he purchased the bankrupt stock of William & John Holliwell of Derby, and worked from no less than four addresses, ending in St. James's Lane from 1843, where he was succeeded by his sons.

A Regency brass inset mahogany bracket clock by Turk of Sittingbourne, with painted dial and twin fusee movement, height 51cm Condition: Finial possibly a later replacement, slightly bent forwards, top of the clock looks to have been re-built and does not sit tightly upon the top of the main body, rather thick looking varnish dirty with a few fine dents, glass with minor scratching, brass work intact, the two corners are actually gilded wood rather than brass, again with rather thick looking varnish, dial dirty and discoloured but looks original, hands possibly later replacements, sides both good, back door with small break near latch, which is also a replacement section of veneer, original lock missing now held in place by a brass turn catch, comes with winding key but no case key, bezel to the front does pull open though. Overall in need of a some cosmetic restoration.
A late Victorian tall oak mantel/bracket clock with silvered dial, in very good condition. 28" tall.In good working order.The clock has a double chime on the quarter hour, a double chime twice on the half hour, a double chime three time on the three quarter hour and the actual number of chimes on the hour.

The fusee movement striking on a large bell behind a brass arched dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman numeral chapter ring and faceted hands. All within an arched stepped ebonised pillared case surmounted by brass handles and raised on brass bracket feet. Measures: 42cm x 32cm x 24cm.

Roman numeral chapter ring with faceted hands. The movement unsigned but striking on multiple bells. Applied ormolu spandrels to sides of face. The case set with maidenhead columns. Flamed urn finials to top with glazed door. Raised on brass base and feet. Measures:58cm x 36cm x 20cm.
A late 19th century German mahogany bracket clock with arched top, the brass mask with cast spandrels, the silvered dial signed Coventry Leaver Co. and with regulator dial and chime/silent facility, with Winterholder & Hofmeier movement. Height 37cm.Condition report: The clock has a key and its pendulum, it winds as it should and was seen to run, it strikes the hours and quarters but it is erratic. The case is a little scruffy and lacks finials but has some nice features such as the stop fluted pillars.
