A VERY FINE EIGHT DAY WALNUT LONGCASE CLOCK, by George Paker of Dublin (1701 - 1766), the moulded cornice with a chequered frieze above a square brass dial with a signed silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, subsidiary dial for seconds and date aperture, the movement with anchor escapement and inside count wheel strike, finely matted dial centre with concentric turnings, around the winders, attractive cherub leaf and crown spandrels against a herringbone and leaf engraved plate flanked with two ebonised and parcel gilt columns each with leafy capital, on a herringbone banded trunk, with a moulded arch door with oval lenticel on a conforming moulded box base with bracket feet, 89"h x 21"w (226cms x 53cms). Winterhalder & Hofmeier Ebonised Twin Fusee Bracket Style Clock: Ornate mantel clock having silvered chapter ring within a gilt plate housed in a wooden case with gilded decoration complete with pendulum and key (44cm high) with do not guarantee the accuracy. Winterhalder and Hofmeier (clocks) goes back to Winterhalder Uhrenfabrik in the Black Forest, a clock manufacturer from 1810. It was further manifested from 1850 under the new name Winterhalder & Hofmeier. In 1869 the company was renamed M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier, Friedenweiler und Schwaerzenbach, in Neustadt. From 1908 the new name was M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier GmbH. The company was part of the Black Forest clockmaker industry as its factory was located in Titisee-Neustadt and surroundings and as it subscribed to high quality standards. The company existed until 1933
