19TH CENTURY WELSH OAK 30 HOUR COTTAGE LONG CASE CLOCK marked: 'Dav'd Jones, Bullfa, Cavo', having broken swan neck pediment to the hood over arched aperture flanked by baluster pilasters, moulded and shaped waist door, flanked by reeded angles on a panelled base with bracket feet, arch painted face decorated with birds and shells with man o' war to the centre, Roman numerals and arched aperture. The face 15" x 11" approx. Thirty hour movement strikes on one bell. Overall 2m 10cm high approx. Includes pendulum and single weight. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Face has been well repainted apparently, the case overall in clean condition commensurate with age, movement appears to have been restored.
19TH CENTURY WELSH MAHOGANY EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK, having broken swan neck pediment with brass ball and spike finials over arched aperture, flanked by reeded pillasters, the waist with pointed arch moulded shell inlaid door, flanked by quarter reeded pillasters on a satinwood, strung outlined panel base with ogee bracket feet. Arch painted face with country scene and floral spandrels, Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture, marked: Wolfe Ansell, Pontypool. 16" x 11 3/4" approx. Eight day, two train movement striking on one bell. Overall 220cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT)(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: In good overall condition, face having been very well repainted, the case with good patination and colour.
LATE 18TH CENTURY WELSH OAK 30 HOUR LONG CASE CLOCK marked: Jones and Bamford, Neath, the hood with broken swan neck pediment over arched aperture, flanked by plain turned pillasters, the waist with arch moulded door flanked by reeded, canted angles, plain panelled base on later bracket feet. Arch painted face with Arabic numerals, painted with fantastic birds to the arch with stylised spandrels, date aperture. 40 x 27cm approx. Thirty hour, single train movement striking on one bell. Overall 214cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The face is rather grubby but appears original, some crazing and wear to numerals, the case of a medium colour and in fair condition, split to base panel, the bracket supports are added. Includes pendulum and single weight.
19TH CENTURY 30 HOUR OAK LONG CASE CLOCK, marked: Nicholas, Daventry and having broken swan neck pediment above square aperture flanked by baluster turned pillars, the waist with plain moulded door flanked by reeded uprights, panelled cross banded base on bracket feet. Square painted face with Roman numerals and floral spandrels, date aperture, 12" square approx. Thirty hour single train movement striking on one bell. Overall 210cm high approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Includes single weight and pendulum, case of good medium colour, crack to the base, wear to the face, some losses to cross banding in places, side moulding detached.
EARLY 20TH CENTURY MAHOGANY THREE TRAIN LONG CASE CLOCK, having broken swan neck pediment to the hood, above arch aperture flanked by reed pilasters, waist door with bevel glass panel on a panel base with ogee bracket feet, hood and base decorated with inlaid vase and swag decoration, silvered Roman chapter ring and gilt metal spandrels. The face 14" x 10". Three train drum movement striking on gongs. Overall 220cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Appearing in good clean condition, a little dry in places, includes pendulum.
19TH CENTURY WELSH MAHOGANY 30 HOUR LONG CASE CLOCK marked: H.H. Curtis, Neath, the domed hood with finials above arched aperture above flanked by baluster turned pillars, plain cross banded rectangular waist door on a cross banded panel base and bracket feet. Arch painted face with study of Durham Cathedral and ruined abbeys to the spandrels, Roman numerals, seconds dial and date aperture. Thirty hour movement strikes on one bell. The face is 18" x 12.5", the case overall 2m 25cm approx. Includes weight and pendulum.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Overall in good condition commensurate with age, a little dry in places, hard knocks and bumps, particularly to angles, face clear, appears missing one finial.
19TH CENTURY EIGHT DAY LONG CASE CLOCK, having broken swan neck pediment above arched aperture flanked by reed pillasters, pointed arch moulded door to the waist with moulded quarter pillasters on a panelled base with bracket feet. Arch painted face with rolling moon, Roman numerals and arched date aperture with florally painted spandrels, unnamed, face 18" x 12.5" approx. Eight day two train movement strikes on one bell, 218cm high approx.(B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: The case is a little pale and dry but no serious damage noted, wear and tear commensurate with age, the face is very grubby and has been poorly repainted at some stage, unnamed, includes two weights and pendulum.

Tunnell, Fleet Street London, a Regency mahogany bracket clock: the eight-day duration, double-fusee movement striking the hours on a bell with the shaped backplate having engraved border decoration, the eight-inch round silvered dial engraved with black Roman numerals and engraved to the centre with the maker's name Tunnell, Fleet Street, London, with brass moon hands, the mahogany case having brass inlaid decoration to the front, with further inlay and scroll stops to the canted corners and brass fishscale side frets, surmounted by a brass carrying handle to the curved top and all standing on brass ball feet, height 43cms (handle down) 50cms (handle up).* Biography A John Tunnell is recorded as free of the Clockmakers Company in 1814 and a Liveryman from 1826, quite possibly moving to Deptford, Kent prior to 1847 where he is still recorded in 1849.
Rivers & Son, London, a Georgian ebonised verge bracket clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar movement having a verge escapement and striking the hours on a bell with pull repeat and having a fully engraved backplate, the seven-inch round enamelled dial having black Roman hour numerals, Arabic outer five-minute numerals and signed Rivers & Son, London, with decorative blued steel hands, the ebonised case having a full opening front door with brass fret work below and brass edging, brass side frets, a three-pad top with brass mounts, surmounted by a brass carrying handle and standing on brass bracket feet, height 34cms (handle down): 38cms (handle up).* Biography David Rivers is recorded as working in Sweetings Alley, London being free of the Clockmakers Company in 1766 with the business becoming Rivers & Son in circa 1782 with an address in Cornhill, where they were successors to Daniel de St. Jeu, Clockmakers to her Majesty. Robert Sutton, Stafford, a moonphase longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell with a wood rod to the pendulum, the thirteen-inch break-arch brass dial engraved to the solid centre with the maker's name Sutton, Stafford and with cast brass female-head corner spandrels, the chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, large Arabic five minute numerals, with decorative blued steel hands and a sweep seconds hand, the arch showing the date and phases of the moon to a finely painted disc showing two moons, with a landscape picture to one side and a seascape to the other unusually depicting a sailing and steam ship, a feature seen on another Staffordshire moon disc, the mahogany case with finely fluted free standing pillars to the trunk and hood, a shaped top to the door, with three shells inlaid to the frieze above the door and further shell inlay to the four corners of the base and to the plinth below the trunk pillars, the swan-neck pediment to the hood fronted with three panels of blind fretwork, with side blocks, a ball-and-spire brass finial and brass paterae, the case standing on cabriole bracket feet, height 236cms.* Biography Robert Sutton is recorded as working from circa 1769 when he took John Chambley as an apprentice followed by William Gilbert in 1779. Various watches were recorded stolen from his premises in 1774 and 1781. He is known as a maker of fine longcases, with one in particular being an exceptional musical example with the dial showing the saint's days, holy days and the Gods of the four seasons along with an annual calendar.Another example, with a wooden movement showing the influence of the great John Harrison who had previously worked in the area, is on display at The Collection, Art & Archaeology in Leicestershire where it is stated: Although influenced by Harrison, Sutton remains an outstanding craftsman and innovator in his own right. Reference: Joseph McKenna, Clockmakers & Watchmakers of Central England, Mayfield Books, 2002.The rear of the moon disc and the frontplate of the movement are both signed, one scratched, the other punched, by the clockmaker Thomas Pear of Stafford who is recorded as working at 4, Marston Road, Stafford, from before 1880 until at least 1896 and beyond. This mark would indicate that he carried out some repairs/restorations on this clock.

With single pad top, brass carry handle, brass fish-scale side frets, brass ogee bracket feet and rounded arched pediment framing the dial. Brass spandrels frame a round enamel face with Roman numeral chapter ring. Subsidiary dial for the months and a strike/silent adjuster. The backplate is engraved with an intricate foliate design. Double fusee movement with anchor escapement, striking on a six bell carillon and a single hemispherical bell. With pull chord quarter repeater. 36 x 26cm.
A mid 18th century mahogany bracket clock by Christopher Moon of London. With three pad top and brass carry handle, brass fish-scale side frets and brass bracket feet. The semi-circular arched dial has brass spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, two subsidiary dials one for strike/silent, one for months of the year. A cutaway in the centre of the dial reveals the maker's name. The back-plate is engraved with the central motif of a phoenix surrounded by swirling foliate design. Double fusee movement with verge escapement striking on a single bell, with quarter repeater pull chord. 42 x 28cm.
