A 17th/18th Century primitive oak longcase clock, J N Satterthwaite, St BeesWith a moulded cornice above the brass eleven inch dial painted with Roman numerals and adorned with openwork scrolling leaf spandrels , signed with the maker's name, the clock with a thirty hour single hand movement mounted within a plain hood, above a plain rectangular case with a full width moulded door mounted on iron hinges above a conforming lower panel and front bracket feet, 212cm high, with one weight and pendulum. CONDITION REPORT: There is a 2" piece of moulding missing from top right hand side. Glass replaced with new internal beading. Some alterations around movement board. No rear feet.Minor splits to top and bottom of door, approx 5" / 6" long. Some minor splits on top of back board. Some inactive worm in the back board.The glass panel has been recently replaced with new beading on the inside of the hood.

H., Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as successors to De St. Leu., working 1782-1815. Condition Report / Extra Information Original metal dial (dia.20cm), not overpainted but with fine crazing all over and some staining.Some chips to enamel on dial extremities.Bezel good.Case generally good, some fine veneer splits to dome.Movement good and clean.In running order.Pull and hour repeat working.Movement and brackets appear all original.Period bell, lovely strike.The whole probably restored in the last 30 years.Basically a good example.
