A large late 19c English chiming bracket clock retailed by the Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company, 112 Regent Street, London. The chain driven triple fusee movement quarter chimes a choice of Westminster, Whittington or St Michael`s chimes on seven gongs and hour strikes on an eighth. The arched brass dial has a silver chapter ring and subsidiary rings for chime/silent, pendulum regulation and chime selection. It is contained in an ebonised round topped case set with cast gilt mounts, fret, handles, side frets and surmounted by five gilt pineapples. The clock stands 24"" tall overall.

A late 19c German bracket clock with bevelled spring ting tang movement by Winterhalder & Hoffmeier chiming on two gongs. It is contained in a round topped mahogany case with brass carrying handle, fish scale frets, brass ball feet and brass framed inset quarter panels below the dial, the clock stands 18.5"" tall with handle raised.

An early 19c eight day longcase clock, the 13"" arched painted dial signed Grove of Upton and having indications of the Welsh, Scots, English and Irish in the corners and a picture of the Duke of Wellington in the arch. The dial has Arabic numerals, date and seconds indicators and matched brass hands. The standard movement has anchor escapement and rack striking on a bell and is contained in an oak and mahogany case with swan neck pediments to the hood with a central ball and eagle finial and fluted columns flanking the dial. The trunk has fluted quarter columns and the rectangular trunk door has a central diamond shaped inlay and a band of edge stringing, the base has similar stringing, bracket feet and a wavy base, 90"" tall overall.

Provenance: this clock was presented to the late Lord Morley in 1895 as an appreciation of his services whilst representing Newcastle-on-Tyne in parliament.
