A George III longcase clock by William Porthouse of Penrith, single pointer, brass dial , 10.25 inch square, with date aperture and Roman numerals. Height 85 ins. CONDITION REPORT: Although the mask around the clock face does fit very well it is likely that the clock case and movement have not always been together. The seatboard has been moved forward and has a supporting bracket beneath. It our opinion the movement is likely to have been a shorter case.
An early 19th century mahogany longcase clock, by George Innes of Glasgow, with circular dial and well figured mahogany case raised on bracket feet. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small section of veneer missing to one of the rounded corners on the pediment. The remainder of the hood is in good order. The trunk door is in good condition and not warped. The base of the clock is similarly in good order. There are some minor scuffs around the bracket feet as one would expect. The movement is reasonably clean and we have the weights and pendulum. We have not had the clock operating as the small metal strip at the top of the pendulum is missing. The clock face is in original condition with strong colours and some minor surface scratches but no significant issues. Both the strike mechanism and going mechanism operate when weight is applied to the pulleys suggesting that with the minor repair to the top of the pendulum the clock is likely to run.
