Whilst the oak of the box is old, is this possibly a replacement?

The main part of the case is relatively original. The backboard is complete as are the internal side pieces. The cheeks have been reduced and have later risers and an associated seatboard. The front marquetry panel is about 66% present, the lost part now veneered in walnut. The plinth at the base is later.The movement and dial are associated and it would require a service to be in going condition.

W. ELLIOTT LTD. / ENGLAND / 1939, the reverse of the case also stamped A M between a crown / F. W. ELLIOTT Ltd. / 1939 and further stamped to the righthand side of the case at the base W. S between a crown47cm diam. overallCondition ReportWith its pendulum and a winding crank key.The clock appears in good original condition. Some small joint movement to the wooden bezel. The side door fillet has been repaired and subsequently the door repolished. The pendulum access door a possible replacement? Evidence of repairs to the base here and re-polishing. The polishing to the sides appears original and one can see a slight crazing to the surface of the polish supporting that. The dial has some very slight chips to paint around the winding hole. Original surface overall with a cracquleur to the surface. Possibly the RAF crest with some decoration refreshed? The coloured sectors refreshed. The four pegs holding the dial surround to the case are not the originals.

The movement is in good order and may benefit from a clean and service. The case is in reasonable condition, marks and knocks consistent with age. Decoration refreshed. There is a cut-out to the lower part of the dial door.

The silver cased clock is not working, the enamelled dial has slight loss of luminosity to numeral 7 and to the end of the minute hand, the case is in good condition, the closing catch is a little weak, would benefit from cleaning, two small dents showing from the inside to the outside of the front, size of case closed 8.8cm x 7cm.The leather cased clock not working, leather is very perished.
A MAHOGANY CASED LARGE WOODEN DIAL TIMEPIECEDetailed Hunt, DoverWith cast brass moulded bezel and pierced brass spade hands, the dial with Roman chapters and Arabic five-minute markers, in a salt-box-style case, the chain fusée movement with arched plates and maintaining power59cm diam.Condition reportThe clock was running prior to consignment and appears in good condition. The dial and bezel are most likely period, and the hands are old. However, the salt box case is a replacement. The movement and its pendulum are likely to be associated, and it sits on a new circular brass plate securing it to the back of the dial. One securing peg (of four) is missing. The reconstruction faithfully creates a most pleasing dial clock which is very decoartive and appealing.

He gained his Freedom in 1685. He is not recorded after 1697.Condition reportThe hood still has its original runners for rising. There is no spoon. Section of the backboard is replaced. The base has been rebuilt and the marquetry panel is not original but well matched. There are two brass-cased weights, a winding crank key and a pendulum (of later date).

The second: chromolithograph on sheets of joined wove paper laid down on linen, folded in seven sections, the first with printed title 'The First Part of the Bataile fought on ye 11th of August / About 4 in the Morning', the second with printed title 'The Second Part about 6 of ye Clock', the third with printed titled 'The 3 Part About 7 or 8 of the Clock', the fourth with printed title 'The 4th Part About 10 or 12 of the Clock', the fifth with printed title 'The 5th Parte: about 1 and 2 of the Clock', the sixth with printed title 'The 6 Part About 3 and 4 of Clock', the seventh with printed title 'The 7th Part About 5 and 6 at Night', 36.5 x 780.2 cm., (unframed). Provenance: Private Collection, UK. Note: These panoramic depictions depict two separate battles, which both took place in the Third Anglo-Dutch War of 1672-74. A version these works, variously in chromolithograph, pen, ink and watercolour, is held in the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich [no.PAJ0307-PAJ0316 ]. Another version of the 'Battle of Solebay' in chromolithograph sold recently at Roseberys, London, 19 July 2023, lot 71 (£9,100). An oil of 'The Battle of Texel' by Willem van de Velde the Younger (1633-1707) is also held in the collection of the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich [no.BHC0314]. The first three sections depict the Battle of Solebay in three parts. The naval battle took place in May/June 1672 and was the first naval battle of the Third Anglo-Dutch War. It began as an attempted raid on Solebay port where an English fleet was anchored and largely unprepared for battle, and ended at a hard-fought draw. The battle however prevented a planned allied naval invasion of the Dutch Republic and boosted the morale of the Dutch population. Both sides claimed victory. Van de Velde the Younger was present during the Battle of Solebay in a small boat. He made drawings that would go on to shape how the battle was perceived, and eventually inspire a series of giant tapestries depicting the course of the conflict. The second seven sections depicts the Battle of Texel, the last battle of the Third Anglo-Dutch War, which took place on 11-21 August 1673. The battle was fought between the Dutch on one side, and the English and French on another, and represented the final attempt by the Allies to destroy the Dutch fleet, in order to leave the Dutch coast open to invasion.
