1955 Douglas 348cc DragonflyRegistration no. UYB 458Frame no. 1020/6Engine no. 1020/6The extensively redesigned Dragonfly debuted at the 1954 Earls Court show, the newcomer featuring a stronger crankcase, single carburettor, alternator electrics and coil ignition (replaced with electronic on this example). The new frame was also a departure from previous models with a conventional rear swinging arm and a leading-link front fork. Yet only some 1,500 Dragonflys were built before production of Douglas's final motorcycle ended in March 1957.This example was the 20th built and is possibly the oldest still in regular use with an indicated 18,880 miles on the clock. A sizeable list of invoices is on file from its 2019 restoration by the owner who apprenticed at Douglas. Supplied with key.Footnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

1966 Norton 650SS DominatorRegistration no. FHO 27DFrame no. 18115677Engine no. 18SS115677'Extremely high maximum speed. Abundant stamina. Pleasant manners. Traditional Norton handling' said Motor Cycling of the sporting Dominator 650SS. With down-draught inlet ports and twin carburettors providing 49bhp and exemplary handling courtesy of its Featherbed frame, the 650SS's all-round performance was more than a match for Triumph's Bonneville. Indeed Motor Cycling achieved a best one-way speed of 119.5mph with a 650SS, over 10mph up on the Bonneville. This fine example is largely original, bar a resprayed tank, chromed mudguards and a rebuilt engine with the correct twin carburettors. The 6,135 miles on the clock seems genuine judging by past MoTs, with just 365 miles recorded since 1994, most in the past year. Offered with key.Footnotes:All lots are sold 'as is/where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com
