GNR 8" mahogany cased, Fusee Clock by John Walker. Supplied to the GNR with pre-grouping number 789, in the late 19th century. Original cast bezel (no glass) & pendulum. No key but has been wound and appears to be in working order. The dial has been re-written in Arabic style showing `BR` and the number 9648. Records show that this was from the Booking Office at Finsbury Park station.
LB&SCR Oak cased 7½" dial wall hung Regulator clock 229 B. Supplied by Richard Webster of Cornhill London in 1863 for £12-10-0d the clock was originally used in Folly Hill signal box at Haywards Heath, it finished its working life at Ashford crossing signal box Templecombe and was transferred from the Southern Region to The Western Region on the 1st January 1963. The Large rectangular single train weight driven movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power has recently been cleaned and oiled and keeps excellent time, all 3 keys are present for the locks as is the winding key and pendulum, a rare chance to obtain one of these clocks as only 44 were supplied and this is one of the early ones, the later ones had teak cases.
British Railways 12" mahogany cased iron dial fusee clock number 14094 circa 1950. The English fusee movement with wire to the fusee is in good working condition. The Liner clock records show that this clock was last in use at Doncaster, Yard Master Shakespeare Dock, Amenity Block and was sold to collectors corner Euston on the 10th October 1983. Complete with pendulum and key.
LBSCR 10-inch Mahogany cased iron dial fusee clock with a cast brass bezel, supplied to the London Brighton and South Coast Railway by William Wright in 1850. The quality English fusee movement of typical London style has square plates with shaped shoulders and a cut out at the bottom held together by turned tapered pillars, the white enamel painted dial displaying bold Roman numerals and the legend B.R.(S). John Walker 1, South Molton St London 158.B. The clock retains its original cast bezel with a convex glass and the rear of the case has been stamped 158.B. which was applied on or after the grouping of the Southern Companies. The Southern clock records show that this clock was originally supplied by William Wright of Tooley St London in 1850 and last saw service at Newhaven Harbour and was situated in the South Signal Box. William Wright (1828-1851) supplied 108 clocks to the fledgling London Brighton and South Coast Railway from 1841-1861, this particular clock is not only one of his earliest supplied clocks but one of only four of this type and so far the only known survivor. A rare and desirable timepiece from a recorded London maker in working condition complete with pendulum and key.
Barry Railway 12 inch Oak cased iron dial fusee clock with a spun brass bezel manufactured for the Barry Railway circa 1870–1880 by Barry & Sons of Cardiff. The quality English chain driven fusee movement with thick A frame plates that are held together by turned tapered pillars, is in fully restored condition. The white enamel painted dial displaying bold block style Roman numerals and the legend Barry Railway Co, Barry & Sons, Cardiff. This particular dial writing is unique and has never had GWR lettering applied the dial has been lightly restored by Dr D.R. Parr. The clock comes with its original BR paper label returning it from Caerphilly to AA Gardane Chief Signalling and Telegraph engineer S&T dept Reading. An extremely rare clock and the only one with this dial writing known to exist. Complete with pendulum and key.
NER Mahogany cased 12" drop dial English fusee clock. The chain driven fusee movement which has recently been cleaned and oiled has rectangular plates with shaped shoulders and is stamped in the back Ex YRK which confirms that the clock was originally sold from the British Railways Collectors corner shop in York sometime in the 1970`s. The original dial bears the writing LNER 1335 and has ghosted Smith & Sons Clerknewell which is a rare feature, the excellent quality flame mahogany case which is in original condition has a brass bow tie lenticle window and retains its original cast brass bezel. The LNER clock records show that the clock was in use at Barnard Castle East cabin Signal box , however the back of the case has Seamer West Box marked on it probably indicating a late transfer, altogether a magnificent and rare clock.
G.W.R. 12-inch mahogany trunk cased drop dial clock with a spun brass bezel manufactured for the G.W.R. in the period 1870–1880 and supplied by Kay`s Limited of Worcester. The quality English chain driven fusee movement with large rectangular plates, shaped shoulders and turned pillars, is in fully working condition, the white enamel painted dial displaying bold Roman numerals and GWR in the post grouping roundel style, surrounded by a spun brass bezel, the ivorine plate No GWR 2735 is fixed to the left hand side of the case and the bottom door lock has been replaced by the normal Reading modification of a ball bearing catch. The clock was acquired from an ex railwayman`s family located in the village of Bretforton Worcestershire and they confirmed that the clock was purchased by their father from Cheltenham Spa station where he spent the last years of his railway service.
Southern Railway 18 inch mahogany cased fusee dial clock number 10021, as supplied to the SR in 1926 by Grimshaw & Baxter. The chain driven fusee movement is in working condition and comes complete with pendulum and key. The dial has been re written post 1948 by John Walker of London but is in excellent condition, the original cast bezel lacks glass. The Southern Railway clock records show this clock in use at Cannon street Station London concourse (so you might be able to find a photo of it in situ) and before Cannon Street it was in use at Dartford station concourse. A large and impressive clock.
GER 12" late 19th century Mahogany cased fusee clock No 108, with a good quality chain driven fusee movement and a repainted dial executed By Dr D.R. Parr ( part of his original paperwork accompanies the clock ) The LNER records show that this clock was located at Ilford Station East booking office. In working condition complete with pendulum and key.
GWR brass cased Drum Clock, 4" diameter. Original enamel dial reads `JM Skarratt & Cie Paris GWR`. Numbered 1716on side. Original French Movement has recently been overhauled and fitted with a new Platform Escapement. In full working order, has a few hairline cracks otherwise extremely good.
A French Art Deco mantle clock by M Le Ducq, in the form of an Albatross flying above the bronzed globe of the world which contains the clock movement, having a platform escapement and is countwheel striking on a bell. The bird in supported on a bronze wave which is mounted on an oval black slate base, the base 24"w.
A SUPERB 19TH CENTURY FRENCH ORMOLU AND PORCELAIN THREE PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE, the circular dial by N HORDERINE of France de BRONERS, painted with cupid, surmounted by porcelain lidded urn with classical figures to the sides, 17 inches high, complete with a pair of rose pompadour porcelain urns and covers with pineapple finials. 12.5 inches high.
A HIGHLY IMPORTANT BRONZE INDUSTRIAL CLOCK made in 1906 for the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranean Railway inauguration of The Simpton Orient Express. The locomotive with two figures of Mercury showing the way, Mercury’s hand on the clock dial. (See ‘La Pendule Francaise’, Henri-Gustave Lengellé Tardy 1969, p497) 21 inches high, 16 inches wide, 16 inches deep, on a marble top stand, the front with initials ‘PLM’, 48 inches high.
