A French gilt brass mantel clock, 19th century, the 3 inch white enamel dial with painted black Roman numerals and minute band, signed Terrien a Paris, two train movement striking on a bell, the face surrounded by a pierced foliate frieze, eagle surmount, with sun mask pendulum but damaged suspension, raised on an oval ebonised base and four flattened bun feet, 19 by 10 by 28cm, together with a French barrel movement, 19th century, the 4.25 inch white enamel dial with painted black Roman numerals and minute band, visible escapement, two train movement striking on a bell, stamped L. Marti et Cie, Made in France, R&C, 626, 9 and 2, with an associated mercury compensating pendulum, and later adapted to fit in a perspex mantel case, 20 by 13 by 42cm. (2)
A gothic mantel castle clock, 19th century, the bronze and wooden case in Black Forest style, modelled as a clock tower with wooden shingle carved double tiered roof, bronze castellations, and barley twist supports, with armorial painted glass panels to the sides below portrait busts, raise on outswept spade feet, the brass dial with Roman numerals, 26 by 26 by 60cm.
An early to mid 20th century brass cylinder mechanism, possibly a homing pigeon clock, with a set of three paper 'counters' enclosed by a glass viewing aperture with hinged cover, threaded cover to one end with 'key' hole and stamped '1' through to '8', stamped '3119' to the opposite end, 15 by 26cm.
An early 19thC mahogany eight day Grandmother Clock, striking on a bell, the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals, upon florally engraved brass dial, signed, ' John Clones, Londini Fecit',beneath a silvered roundel engraved with a windmill; the case inlaid with box wood stringing and Greek key-pattern decoration, the arched hood with swan neck pediment surmounted by a gilt metal eagle, 72in (183cm) high.
An Edwardian quarter chiming Longcase Clock, signed W. Scott, Glasgow, the ornately inlaid mahogany case with shallow arched top over turned columns and a glazed trunk revealing nine tubular gongs and brass pendulum, on a plinth base and bracket feet, the 12 inch arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, cherub spandrels and twin subsidiaries in the arch for strike/silent and chime select 'Westminster' and 'Whittington', the triple train weight driven movement chiming the quarters on eight gongs and sounding the hour on a ninth, 88in (223.5cm) high.
A George III ebonised quarter chiming Bracket Clock, signed James Murray, Royal Exchange, London, the pagoda-style top surmounted by brass spheres, an arched dial flanked pilasters, pierced brass panels and carry handles, on ball feet, the painted dial with black Roman numerals and subsidiary strike/silent and slow/fast dials to the arch, the signed triple fusee movement striking the quarters on eight bells, 24in (61cm) high.
Elizabeth Murch, Honiton, a mahogany longcase clock, the 8-day movement striking the hours on a bell, with the twelve-inch square silvered dial signed E. Murch, Honiton, with black Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute markings, subsidiary seconds and date aperture, the plain case with a long trunk door, flat-top hood with swan-neck crest and columns, 94in (239cm) high. Provenance: the vendor is descended from the Murch family, it has been in her family since the 19thC, she wanted it to return to the area.
John Benham, Cullompton, a mahogany longcase clock, the 8-day movement striking the hours on a bell, with the arched painted dial signed Jo. Benham, Cullompton, with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date aperture, the plain case with a long trunk door, arched hood with broken swan-neck pediment, 83in (211cm) high. Provenance: This clock has been in the Gouldsworthy family since the 19thC, they were farmers living in a thatched cottage, 'Splatt Hayes' in Buckerell near Honiton; the vendor is descended from this family and wanted it to return to the area.
