There are some minor splits in the veneer due to shrinkage. The dial is in nice condition, with original hands. The hour hand has an old repair. The movement is complete and in working condition, but may need we would reccomend a service. The pendulum has been replaced but it has original verge escapement, the steel brackets holding the movement in place are later and would have originally only been fixed from underneath and the brackets are just for extra support. It strikes the correct hour and repeats the correct quarters. The movement isnt signed which is unusual for a Quare.

The movement is complete and in working condition, chiming the correct quarters. The hour striking bell is present but has snapped on the bell staff and will need attention. A LATE 19TH CENTURY MALACHITE AND BLACK SLATE FRENCH MANTEL CLOCK the arched case with scrolled sides and inset malachite panels standing on a moulded plinth base. The enamel dial with Roman numerals and visible escapement, above a year calendar dial with moon phase, fronting a spring-driven eight-day movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell.41.5cm high The clock is in very good working condition, with original pendulum. The movement looks clean but we would advise a service. Bot dials are in very nice condition with no cracks or chips. There is a small chip to the front corner of the top mould on the left hand side, but there is no other damage or restoration.

There is a very small chip to the bottom corner of the back glass panel. The dial is in good condition with no damage or restoration. The movement is ticking on its original escapement but isn't striking but complete and will require attention.

The 11" square brass dial with crown and cherub spandrels, silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numeral surrounding a matted and engraved centre with subsidiary seconds dial and calendar aperture fronting an eight-day five-pillar weight driven movement with anchor escapement and outside countwheel striking the hours on a bell 205cm highThe case has been cleaned and polished sometime in the past, is an original period case with an original base and backboard which runs down to the floor, no losses to the marquetry, the seat board is period but not original to movement, the cheeks to the case are original and not cut down or blocked up. The dial is original to the movement and is complete, runs when wound but would recommend a service. Hands have been replaced, silvering to the chapter ring is discoloured. Comes with the original brass cased weights and brass bob pendulum. Very nice proportions.
