An early 20th century brass lantern clock, with Winterhalder & Hofmeier two-train movement, the dial marked "Jervis". Height 40 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock is a two train clock. Both trains wind. The clock is currently ticking away but there does not appear to be a hammer protruding through the top plate of the clock. For some reason this must have been removed. The strike mechanism does make a whirring sound when moved past the hour.
A French porcelain mantle clock, the dial marked "Marx a Paris", case by Jacob Petit. Height 41 cm, width 38 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The clock dial is damaged around both winding apertures and across the numeral 3. There are numerous small hairline cracks. The tip of the hour pointer is missing. The clock is fully wound on both trains and we have not had it ticking. The porcelain pediment has minor losses to the rose and leaf bocage at the top and another loss to the right hand side of the top bellflower. There is a crack across the swag beneath the portrait and the top of the ribbon ear is slightly rough to touch. Both cornucopias have extensive floral escutcheons and there are numerous small losses to the encrustations on both sides as well as to the small baskets of flowers either side of the dial. The clock case is also very dusty. The base of the case beneath the clock is in generally good condition. The front left hand bottom foot has been detached. There is a foot missing from the centre beneath the cherub panel. All other feet are rubbed at the base.
A George III mahogany longcase clock by John Smith of Chester, with two-train striking movement and moon phase, the case with swans neck pediment, long trunk door and fluted quarter column corners. Height 240 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: We have the pendulum & weights. The clock appears to be ticking away and does strike when the hands are advanced to the hour. The clock case is in first class condition with no significant issues. The trunk door is only very slightly warped at the bottom left hand corner but in our opinion this is not significant. The remainder of the case is in very good condition and the bracket feet appear original. The backboards are original. The dial and moon phase are in good order and the clock could be used or resold in its current state without the need for any repair or restoration.
The Royal Geographical Society world clock, 1980, Copyright 1979, the rotating globe raised on a brass column and with wooden plinth. Width 22 cm, height 30 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock is in generally good condition with no visible damage, losses, repairs or restoration. The globe does rotate when moved manually. Unfortunately the knurled winding knob at the rear of the clock fully detaches. There is a hole in the cylinder which presumably locates this on a spline in order to allow for winding and movement of the hands. This is not currently possible as the pin is missing. The brasswork is a little discoloured and beginning to tarnish.
An early 19th century Scottish mahogany longcase clock, with swans neck pediment above the arched painted dial and two-train striking movement, flanked by turned columns, with bowed trunk door and panelled base. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in generally extremely good condition. It is a good colour. The doors are not warped. We have the keys and pendulum. The dial is in very good condition as are all of the pointers. The catgut has slipped of the drums on both trains. We do however see any reason why the movement should not be operational. The movement winds as it should.
An Edwardian inlaid mahogany lyre shaped clock, with single-train movement. Height 26.5 cm, width 15 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The clock case is in very good condition with no visible defects.
