A George III flame mahogany Thwaites & Reed bracket clock, brass swing handle, caddy top, glazed 16cm circular silvered brass dial signed Thwaites & Reed, London, glazed side windows and rear door, double fusee movement striking on a single bell, brass bracket feet, height 47cm, (pendulum) Notes: Founded in London in 1740, world famous Thwaites & Reed claim to be the oldest clock manufacturers in the world with drawings dating as far back as 1610. For thirty years the Company has maintained all the clocks at The Palace of Westminster including 'Big Ben'. In recent times it has supplied movements for the likes of Asprey and Garrards.

Smith (Philip, 1928-). A musical box, wooden mantel clock case, with a musical box mechanism loosely contained inside, the clock face removed (but retained, set into some hardboard and included in the lot) and replaced with inset circle of green morocco, with coloured onlays and gilt stamped overall with figurative design, diameter of circle 14.5cm (5.75ins), overall size of clock 29 x 22 x 16cm (11.5 x 8.75 x 6.25ins) Similar to the binding Philip Smith created for 'Great Private Collections' edited by Douglas Cooper, illlustrated in 'Non-Duality, As It Is', 2006. He describes the imagery thus: "The design intends different possible states of man. The main gold stamped area represents the 'spiritual' Sun, with a central figure showing the changes necessary in an individual if he is to 'fulfil his potential'." (2)
A Hand Carved Marble Clock Carved in the Form of a Church Building, having two hand carved religious figures on each side, the clock being an apprentice piece initialled F.J. and dd 1804, approx 38 x 49 x 12 cms, on black marble base. Edward Jennings worked as a monumental mason in Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Latterly, he had his own Monumental Memorial business in Maidenhead, Berkshire. An example of his work can be seen on the verge outside the churchyard of St James the Less, Stubbings, Maidenhead, Berkshire in the form of a War Memorial. The stone cross was erected in 1920 and unveiled on 3rd October that year.
