AN EMPIRE MAHOGANY AND GILT METAL MOUNTED MANTEL CLOCK BY SIROST, PARIS, EARLY 19TH CENTURY The dial signed 'Sirost à Paris', on a black marble plinth base 31cm high, 18.5cm wide, 18.5cm deep Condition Report: Movement is in relatively clean working condition and appears free form alteration or noticeable replacements. A gentle clean/service is advised if intending to have the clock running on a daily basis. The dial has slight concentric scratching within the inner track line of the chapter ring between the 11 and 12 numerals - this can only be seen on very close examination otherwise dial appears to be free form visible faults.The case has veneer patch repairs to the front leading left hand corner in front of the sphinx. The rear left hand corner has a small chip and slight splitting to the veneer. Otherwise wooden elements are in good original condition with faults limited to minor bumps, scuffs and wear. The colour is a little uneven/faded. The sphinx mounts each have noticeable patches of discoloration and the black marble platform base has historic edge wear/chipping as is a little uneven in its colour and finish.Clock is complete with pendulum and a winding key. Starbuck. M.A. by the Parishioners of the Parish Church of Deal. On his leaving the curacy of that parish. May 1881, four glass gorge case with inspection top in a fitted leather travel caseheight with handle upright. 22.5cm., case height 17cm.Condition:Winds ticks and runs however no guarantee can be offered as to the full working order of this clock.
