The trunk door is not warped and there are no significant cracks, losses or damage. The feet are original and all present.

Los 1143

A fine George III longcase clock by William Lassel Toxteth Park and London, with three train movement chiming on eight bells and with moonphase, inscribed Lafsel Park London to the arch and Lafsel Park below the numeral VI, with moonphase and subsidiary seconds dial. Dial width 13", the hood ornately carved with carved capitals and columns and with long trunk door flanked by fluted quarter column corners. Height 244 cm, trunk width 40.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: Whilst this is clearly a remarkable clock case and certainly in keeping with a Liverpool maker there are reasons to believe that the case and movement are a marriage. The dial and case may be right, however the engraving around the winder aperture seems slightly on the concentric aperture rings. The second hand is also blind in that it rests 1 cm beneath where it ought to. the moonphase also is not operative or connected. the pillars attaching the dial to the movement are also slightly at an angle further suggesting a marriage. The mask around the dial is also not original. the case as you can see is in extremely good condition with no significant issues. The movement is currently ticking away and striking correctly when advanced.

Los 1254

A George III mahogany longcase clock, Samuel Pearse Honiton, with Father Time automaton to arch and with eight day movement. Height including brass finial 242 cm. The automaton is operating. The seatboard is old and the cheeks have not been built up. The mask around the dial fits well. The case is generally in good order. It looks to have been re-polished in fairly recent times. There are some minor repairs around the extremities. The trunk door fits well with only very minor warping. The plinth around the base is probably a later edition but the colour is a good match. There is a joint stress fracture on the front base panel. We can see no evidence of any woodworm.

CONDITION REPORT: The movement is fully wound on the left-hand facing train. The right-hand train does wind. The movement is chain fusee. It strikes on two bells. When the movement is manually advanced it appears to strike correctly on the quarter, half, three quarter and full. We have a winding key and the pendulum. The movement is not currently running. Both locks are present and unlocked. We do not have the keys. The silvered brass dial is rubbed in places. The case is in generally good order with no losses to the fretwork that we can see. The doors are not warped. The only issue is that beneath the front point of the pediment above the strike silent pointer at the top there should be a section of Gothic carving. This is detached as per our image and more than 50% of this is actually missing.

Please note that currently the hammers do not hit the gongs. We do not have the door keys. Please note as stated in the description this is a spring driven clock and not fusee. The case has nibbles to the corners of the front pediment and stress fractures to the left-hand side veneers on the side of the hood. The case is in extremely good order and in our opinion does not require any work. The doors are not significantly warped. The trunk door closes correctly and locks with the key. There is a slight gap between the top shaped edge of the door and the case itself when the door is closed. The same comment applies to the bottom of the door which is clearly not visible. The movement winds on both trains and is currently ticking away and striking in the saleroom. The mask around the dial is not a perfect fit and there is a small gap around the face and the mask. As you will see from our images the cheeks have not been built up and the seatboard is clearly old.

Los 962

A brass anniversary clock, with pink dial and Arabic numerals under dome. Overall height 22.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: We have not had the clock running.
