A good 19th century brass lantern clock in the 17th century style; silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals surrounding central foliate-style engraving, the gilded movement striking on two bells and striking quarter hours, complete with pendulum and key (39cm high) Condition is generally good with some scratching, scuffs and minor discolouration etc., commensurate with age.
A 19th Century gilt framed and glazed (probably late Regency period) floral embroidery onto black silk, various flowers emanating from a woven wicker work basket with a handle with bow to the top, frame size 52cm x 44cm The Auctioneer states that we think the whole of the embroidery is in silk. No there are no painted details – it is all embroidery. It is a fairly uniform background in real life although there is minor scuffing where the material meets the frame but it not prevalent. There is a crack through the frame in the 5 o clock position but in the Auctioneers opinion this could be filled and coloured out. Straightforward to repair. There is also another repair on the other side at the 7o clock position – possibly occurring when the frame was originally put together. Just a small suspension hook on the reverse at the top and a small area where the needlework is visible from the rear.
An early 19th century oak and mahogany cased eight-day longcase clock; the 13.15" broken-arch dial with silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and central foliate style engraving and the arch with a silvered roundel signed J. Davison, Perth; shaped crossbanded trunk door flanked by quadrant fluted pilasters with gilt-metal capitals and raised on short ogee-style bracket feet (approx. 220cm high)
A Louis XV style (19th century) gilt-metal-mounted and Vernis Martin lacquer eight-day mantel clock; white enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic minute markers, the dark gold lacquer wooden case hand-decorated with floral sprays and a scene of lovers in 18th century dress below the dial; the gilded movement signed S [Samuel] Marti et Cie, Paris, the movement striking on a gong and with the original pendulum numbered 346 and corresponding to the number on the movement (39cm high (including gilt metal mount)) The lacquer has dulled significantly and there is also cracking which is mostly horizontal. The gilt metal mountings have darkened down considerably and the clock appears to be in a very dirty and dusty untouched condition. The dial appears to be in overall good condition and this comes with the original pendulum and key.
