ROYAL WORCESTER CROWN WARE LUSTRE BOWL, of square shape with inverted corners, decorated externally with gilded birds and fruiting trees against a mottled blue and yellow ground, the interior with a mottled orange ground, gilt factory mark, date code for 1925, painted mark A66/49. 9cm by 17.5cm
RARE WORCESTER PLATE, c. 1765-70, in the Imari palette after an Arita original with a crane standing beside bamboo, prunus and flowering peony and another crane in flight, with Christie's lot label verso (hairline crack). 21cm. Provenance: Sold Christie's, part of lot 589, Raby Castle sale, 11th October 1994, from collection of Lord Barnard. Note:John Sandon, The Dictionary of Worcester Porcelain, 1993, Vol. I, p. 200, plate 55. It is believed that the group of plates, of which this is one, were a special commission from Worcester as replacements for, or additions to, the earlier Japanese Arita service.
