Herefordshire Interest: A Chamberlains Worcester titled landscape Mug, c. 1820, Painted in the style of Thomas Baxter with a view of The Weir in a titled raised gilt border reserved on a lilac ground, spurred scroll handle, base with red script The Seat of E. Parry Esq. Herefordshire and Chamberlains New Bond Street mark, 3 ¼ in high (cracked, worn and restored).Footnote: The New Weir was constructed in 1775-7 by Timothy Markham near Swainhill in Herefordshire, but after buying the property in 1785, William Parry made substantial improvements in 1787/9. The vignette is taken from landscape designer Humphry Repton’s engraving of 1799. The estate was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1959 and the building converted to a nursing home some years later.
