A Worcester (Flight, Barr & Barr) Princess Charlotte Breakfast Service pattern teacup and saucer, decorated with elaborate panels of flowers and insects reserved on a lime-green ground, gilt gadroon bordered rims, gilt factory marks. This pattern was used in 1816 for a breakfast service made for H.R.H. Princess Charlotte upon her marriage to Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coberg-Saalfeld. This example is clearly a teacup and not a breakfast cup so we cannot say with any certainty that this cup and saucer was made for the Princess and factory records do not survive from this period. See R.W. Binns, A Century of Potting in the City of Worcester (Bernard Quaritch 1877, 2nd edition) where a breakfast plate from this service is illustrated Visit www.dnfa.com for condition reports
