2 19th C ROYAL WORCESTER PITCHERS `1229 &1507` Lot of two 19th century Royal Worcester fine English porcelain pitchers. The first has a cylindrical shape and is marked `1229`, made circa 1887. The larger has a bulbous shape and is marked `1507`, made circa 1891. Each having a hand painted floral design and figural gilded handles. Larger measures 8 3/8" height (21.2cm). Total weight of 945 grams.
Possibly 1st period Worcester porcelain leaf-shaped pickle dish, painted underglaze blue, in the pickle leaf vine pattern, crescent mark to base, circa 1765, 9cm long, together with set of three 18th century pottery pickle dishes, leaf-shaped, each with underglaze blue fruiting vine decoration, marked to reverse with blue circle and having veined underside, (af), 10cm long
A Bloor Derby porcelain sauce tureen and cover, of oval Bombe form, painted with two landscape views, one `Near Worcester` the other of `a view in Italy`, with broad bands of bleu de roi and gilt decoration, with two handles with lion mask terminals, the lid with a gadrooned border, and supported on four lion claw feet, 16cm.
A 19th century black leather fire bucket, the body emblazoned a now worn civic coat of arms for the city of Worcester with the motto `FLOREAT SEMPER FIDELIS CIVITAS` and `ESTABLISHED 1820`, 11½in (28.8cm) high, 10¼in (26cm) diameter. Provenance: Sold on behalf of the executors of the late Michael Wellby Esq.
Sir Thomas Brock (1847 - 1922). Victory, bronze, 15¼in (39cm) high, on a green marble plinth, 20in (50.8cm) high together. Thomas Brock started his career as an apprentice at the Royal Worcester Porcelain Works, later becoming a pupil of the sculptor John Henry Foley. His first major work was to complete the statue of Prince Albert for the Albert Memorial, which lead to the colossal Imperial Memorial to Queen Victoria, standing in front of Buckingham Palace.
A quantity of ceramics including a Royal Worcester blush porcelain teacup and saucer, Royal Crown Derby porcelain imari coffee cup and saucer, another decorative cup and saucer with over-painted classical scenes, a Royal Crown Derby house sparrow, a Wedgwood tile printed in black with July, a Copenhagen pottery fawn, 917/786, and a parian bust of Queen Victoria modelled by R. A Caughley porcelain coffee cup and saucer, late 18th century, of fluted form with gilt polka dot decoration, Derby spiral fluted tea bowl and saucer decorated with floral sprigs, Barr Worcester tea cup and saucer decorated in brown and gilt with a band of leaves, and a further Caughley saucer. (7)
