A Grainger & Co, Worcester urn shaped vase with twin scroll handles, painted with cattle in a river landscape, on square base the domed cover with finial 34cm Further Information The condition of this vase is good verging on very good. There is only one significant damage that we have picked up on and that is a very small chip towards the base, The gilding is quite worn in some places but for the most of the vase the gilding is still present and in reasonable condition. There is one other minor chip on the rim of the lid of the vase. It is however very very small. It is not noticeable, we have only noticed it due to searching it thoroughly.
A Royal Worcester porcelain cylindrical vase with flared rim and foot, painted with roses, lilies and forget-me-nots, date code 1914, 11.5cm Further Information We believe this lot to be free from damage or restoration. There is a very slight loss of gilding around the top rim and a slight loss around the bottom rim. The other paintwork is fine.
Three first period Worcester porcelain tea bowls and saucers and a slops bowl, printed in blue 'Mother and Child' pattern [4] Further Information The condition of the 3 saucers are good. There is very little in the way of damages on any of them, The only thing we have noticed were two very small chips to the rim of he base of the saucer which is hardly noticeable. The blue painted pattern is also in good condition showing very little sign of age or wear. It is only on the rims of the saucers that it shows any sort of fading and even then it is only very minor. The 3 bowls are again in good condition. Two are without any significant damages if any at all. There may be the odd minor chip similar to the saucers. The blue painted pattern is similar to that of the saucers. The condition of the slops bowl is similar to that of the rest of the lot. Very little noticeable damage and paint work also in good condition.
A Royal Worcester porcelain baluster shaped ewer [H242] with floral scroll handle and moulded base, painted with Highland cattle and signed John Stinton, date code 1912, 30cm [please note the vendor informs us that this piece has been restored] Further Information Additional - The restoration has taken place in the neck section of the vase. It is hard to say exactly where the breakage occurred but it is probably that it may well have snapped where the top of the handle starts and the whole top section may have requires to be replaced. The glaze on this top section is rough which suggest that it may all have had to be replaced. The condition of this lot is very good. There are no signs of cracks, chips or breakage's. There does not appear to be any signs of restoration. The paint work is in very good condition. Some slight fading in places but nothing major. There is a small amount of loss to the gilding. We were advised by the vendor that the lot had been restored. Personally, we cannot see any signs of restoration so we are unfortunately unable to locate whereabouts the restoration has taken place. A more experienced eye may well be able to point out if and where any restoration has occurred. Our valuer will be in the office on 20th October so we will ask him to take a close look at this lot and provide a more definitive answer to questions regarding the restoration.
