An 18 bore flintlock duelling pistol by Oates, Worcester, 14½” overall, octagonal barrel 9” with London style proofs and engraved “Worcester” in script; flat bolted lock with rainproof pan and roller on frizzen, plate engraved “Oates” in script, halfstocked with horn fore end cap, deeply chequered butt, shield shaped silver escutcheon and engraved steel trigger guard with urn finial; with replacement horn tipped ramrod. GWO & Basically GC (worn overall with moderate pitting, the cock a good replacement). Plate 8

Dog: no obvious major faults. Mouse: minor chip to one ear, 1cm hairline crack to underside of base. Cat: minor chips to ears, small hairline crack and 1cm restoration to rear of base.
