A large rare Worcester junket dish, the centre with scroll-moulded panel picked out in gilt and painted with two `fancy birds' before a leafy branch, within a scale blue border and crisply moulded wide spiral band with colourful moths and butterflies, scale blue and floral bands, gilded rim, 25.5cm diam, square mark, c.1770. Provenance: Sir Jeremy Lever Collection, Bonhams, Lot 166Vendor's Note: This rare coloured decoration of fancy birds and fruit can be associated to James Giles. A very similar example was exhibited by Albert Amour Ltd, October 1993. Fig 9314. Another is illustrated by Rissik Marshall (1954) fig228. Condition Report: Professional restoration to base and scalloped edge. Rings well. Some light wear to gilding and decoration.
