A MID VICTORIAN ROYAL WORCESTER PORCELAIN CLAW VASE, an urn shaped vase with bead decoration to neck, held within a trio of upturned, green bird claws bound by a gilded ring with oval plaques, resting on a triple lobed moulded base with further bead decoration and gilded rim highlights, both impressed and red printed factory marks to base, date coded 1868. 17cm high.

A late 19th Century Worcester Ewer, applied with a scrolled dolphin handle, and the neck embossed with mythological figures, neo-classical scrolls, fish and snakes etc, above Bacchanalian heads, on a dark blue ground gilded with stars, terminating in a spreading circular foot (gilding to foot rim worn), printed mark and date cipher for late 19th Century, Shape No 1536, 15 ½” high

GWR brass Tenderplate number 1693. This 5000 gallon tender was built at Swindon in Sept 1906 being the penultimate one built to William Dean's design. It ran behind Bulldog 3341 BLASIUS, City Class 3710 CITY OF BATH and Bird Class 3448 KINGFISHER. At other times, it was also paired with also paired with a few Dean Goods and Collett 0-6-0 locos. Allocated in various guises at Banbury and Tyseley, it was withdrawn in 1959 from Worcester or Oxford. In excellent polished condition. An excellent data sheet compiled by the late Bill Peto, accompanies the lot.
Totem, BR(W) COLWALL, F/. Ex GWR station on the Cathedrals Express route between Worcester and Hereford, on the Worcester side of Colwall Tunnel which runs through the Malvern Hills. Built in 1861 when the Worcester & Hereford Railway was built. Excellent condition with deep colour and shine, one small expert repair on the brown before the letter 'C'.
Nameplate WESTERN ADVOCATE together with its matching cabside numberplate D1055. Ex British Railways Class 52 Diesel Hydraulic, built at Crewe, March 1963. First shed allocation Cardiff Canton. June 1964 shed allocation Swansea Landore. Last shed allocation Plymouth Laira. Withdrawn after 1,200,000 miles service, due to a collision at Worcester Tunnel Junction, 3rd January 1976. The set was purchased from British Railways and has been in the same location since then. Totally unrestored and original condition.
Nameplate MEREVALE HALL, ex GWR 'Hall' Class locomotive number 5971. Built at Swindon Works in April 1937 and allocated to Weymouth. In August 1950 it was allocated to Westbury and in March 1959 and May 1965 to Worcester. Final shed was Oxford from where withdrawal took place in December 1965. Scrapped at Cashmore's, Newport. Stamped with the number in rear and also 'R' meaning the right hand plate. Condition is as it came off the locomotive. Note: Merevale Hall is situated on a hill overlooking the Warwickshire town of Atherstone. Built in in the 1840s by the architect Edward Blore, the Hall's treasures include the diaries and books of Sir William Dugdale, Garter King of Arms.
GWR 12", mahogany cased, drop dial Trunk fusee Clock. Bears the ivorine plate 'G.W.R . 2079' on the left side. Original condition including the face which bears ghost GWR lettering and the scarcer Kays in larger than normal lettering. More importantly, beneath the centre and beneath 'Worcester', is the ghost number 'R 1007.' This evidently indicates the fact that it was a Relief Clock, used to fill temporary locations when resident clocks went for repair. Complete with key and pendulum, the clock is in working order. As this came to us with BR(W) 3 aspect Guards Handlamp complete with all aspect glasses and a BR-WR burner and reservoir, we have included this with the lot.
Totem, BR(W) GREAT MALVERN H/F. Ex GWR station, one of three in the town, the others being Malvern Wells and Malvern Link. Situated on the Worcester to Hereford line opened in May 1860 and still open today. Good colour and shine with some restoration not affecting the lettering and the usual edge chipping and rusting. An uncommon totem, seldom at auction.
