Rare and controversial 1979 Worcestershire v Somerset Benson and Hedges Cup Signed Cricket Score Sheet – official printed score card signed by both Captains B Rose and Norman Gifford dated 23/05/79 at Worcester, mf&g, overall 27 x 35cm. Note: The game was brought into disrepute after Brian Rose declared after one over with the score at 1 for 0. Worcestershire scored the required 2 runs from 10 balls. It was done to protect Somerset` s run-rate so they could qualify to the next round. Note: Although Rose was condemned, there was nothing in the Rules against a declaration in limited overs cricket at the time. The action was however viewed as being against the spirit of the game, and the TCCB expelled Somerset from the Benson & Hedges Cup on 1 June, their place in the quarter-finals being taken by Glamorgan.
