Worcester topographical dessert comports, c.1846, each piece finely painted in enamel colours with the titled views 'Malvern Abbey Church Worcestershire' & 'Claines Church Worcestershire', within rich gilt and crimson borders bearing the coat of arms of Worcester and the city motto 'CIVITAS IN BELLO IN PACE FIDELIS', on acanthus leaf moulded and pierced stems, height 14.5cmProvenance:Presented by the City of Worcester to the Mayor, Alderman William Lewis c. 1846 in recognition of his work in bringing the railway to Worcester. GWR mahogany cased 14 inch fusee clock. The movement has rectangular plates with turned shaped pillars and the wooden surround is a one piece turning with a black painted bezel. The back box has two side doors a rear opening door and a bottom door with the lock removed and replaced with the GWR ball catch and knob modification. An ivorine numberplate GWR 701 is screwed onto the left hand side of the case. The dial has been repainted post 1948 BR-W. A rare clock dating from around 1870, complete and in working condition, with pendulum and key. Ex Henwick Station Worcester.
Great Western Railway 12 inch dial mahogany cased drop dial trunk fusee clock supplied to the GWR around 1870 by Kays Ltd of Worcester. The rectangular plated chain driven fusee movement has shaped shoulders with cut out to the bottom of the plates and turned pillars. The mahogany case with GWR ivorine clock numberplate 2063 screwed to the front has an eight piece segmented surround, back box with two side doors and a bottom door with cock beading secured by the std GWR replacement ball bearing catch with both hinges stamped GWR. The clock has a spun brass bezel with plastered in sight ring. The original dial is lettered G.W.R. and clearly visible as ghosted writing is KAYS LIMITED WORCESTER. In working condition complete with pendulum and key. A nice early example of these popular clocks.
GWR brass cabside 6681 ex 0-6-2 T built at Swindon in 1928. Allocations included 84F Stourbridge Junction, 84G Shrewsbury, 85A Worcester, 82B St Philips Marsh, 88A Cardiff Canton, 88L Cardiff East Dock, 88F Treherbert, 88B Radyr, and 2A Tyseley from where it was withdrawn in September 1964. Cut up at Cashmores Great Bridge December 1965. In Lovely ex loco condition.
Rhymney Railway Pocket Watch, by the Spiridion & Son of Cardiff. A good quality English made watch with top wind and top set for time adjustment. The dial is clean and has a small chip by the four o'clock number and also R.R Co 128 Spiridion & Son Cardiff is enamelled below the XII position. The good quality Nickel case has matching numbers 554 to all parts and the back of the case has it later GWR number 2548 machine engraved into it. The numbered movement 463548 is fully signed Kays Worcester. A rare pre grouping watch in fully cleaned and working condition.
