The traditional tour start was made at the County Ground, Worcester in May and the team pictured in front of the pavilions contained two of the Caribbean's greatest players and influences. Learie Constantine (knighted in 1969 and made a Lord eight years later) is seated to the right of skipper Rolph Grant, and master batsman George Headley to the left.

Williams was principal partner in Upper Forest & Worcester Steel & Tinplate Works Ltd, Morriston, director of the Capital & Counties Bank Limited, the Swansea Gas Company, the Swansea & Mumbles Railway and the Dillwyn Colliery Company. At the time of his death Williams was 'one of the leading tinplate makers in the world' and one of Swansea's richest men
