A miniature silver replica of the F.A. Charity Shield presented to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Eddie Clamp’s at the 1959 Charity Shield v Nottingham Forest at Molineux, set on an octagonal bakelite backboard, damaged, with easel support, height 14cm., 5 1/2in. Eddie Clamp (14 September 1934-10 November 1995) was a right-half who joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1950, turning professional in April 1952 and making his first-team debut on 6 March 1954. He later established himself as a first XI regular and was an integral member of the League Championship winning teams of 1957-58 and 1958-59 and also went to the 1958 World Cup with England. In the1959 Charity Shield Wolves beat Cup winners Nottingham Forest 3-1 at Molineux. It was the first time that the Charity Shield was held at the very start of the season, played 15th August. This was also the first time that Wolves won the Shield outright, having shared it on three previous occasions. In the latter part of his career, Clamp had spells with Arsenal, Stoke City, Peterborough United and Worcester City, retiring from football in 1969 to run a building and decorating business in Wednesfield. Incidentally, Eddie Clamp’s mother Sarah was the Wolverhampton Wanderers laundry lady for some 30 years between the 1950s and 1980s
A later 20th Century Royal Worcester cabbage leaf jug with collar neck and face mask spout transfer decorated with floral sprigs over a white glazed ground, height 15cm, together with an earlier cream jug and sugar bowl, transfer printed and painted with fruit over a relief moulded coopered body, (3).
