Totem, BR(W), LEDBURY, H/F. Ex GWR station on the Worcester to Hereford line, the Herefordshire side of the Malvern Hills. Very good condition with good colour and shine and a few well executed repairs.

Lot 269

GWR mahogany cased drop dial trunk chain driven Fusee Clock. A very early example with the makers name SKARRATT WORCESTER clearly visible in ghosted writing on the original dial. The chain driven English fusee movement has shaped shoulders, cut out to the bottom of the plates and ringed pillars. The case is one of the early types with a segmented 8 piece surround and lovely flame mahogany to the drop of the case, 2 side doors and the ivorine plate GWR 2926 affixed to the left hand side. The clock has benefited from an overhauled in the last few years and is excellent working condition complete with key and pendulum.

GWR Brass Drum clock By Skarratt of Worcester, the white porcelain dial which has enamelled on it J.M.SKARRATT & Cie, PARIS, G.W.R. is in excellent condition with no visible repairs or damage, the brass case has an early number 2054 hand engraved into the side. A nice early clock which has recently been cleaned and overhauled and much rarer than the Kays versions.

Cast Iron Finger Post style Road Sign `To Cowarne Mill & Froome Hill`. Note the early spelling of what is now `Frome Hill`. Double sided with integral pointing hand. Slight loss at post end. Comes with a printed Sale details and Plan of the actual Mill and surrounding land dated 14th August 1889. Note, this was mid way between Worcester and Hereford.
