A rare early Worcester porcelain coffee cup, circa 1752, painted in Japanese Kakiemon style with a branch of flowering prunus blossom issuing from leaves and rockwork above a simple red horizontal line, the double scroll handle with curled thumbrest, unmarked, height approx 6.5cm (some wear and deterioration to enamels and kiln dirt to glaze). Note: a similar example, which had been part of the Watney and Zorensky Collections, was sold by Bonhams on 7 March 2007, lot 12, as part of the Sir Jeremy Lever Collection. A cup of the same shape painted with a version of the Banded Hedge pattern was sold by Bonhams on 10th May 2006, lot 16, as part of the R. David Butti Collection.
