A Pair of Regency Library Armchairs England circa 1820, of large scale with caned seat, back and sides, the channelled hand rests above ring turned supports and ring turned front legs all with brass castors, the buttoned deep seat and arm supports upholstered in tobacco coloured suede, 70cm wide, 103cm high, 75cm deep During the refurbishment of Stourhead, Wiltshire at the beginning of the 19th century, chairs such as these where the framework is filled by caning, were referred to by Thomas Chippendale the younger (1749 - 1822) as hunting chairs. Also referred as such by Thomas Sheraton in his Cabinet Dictionary of 1803, in which it is noted that they "formed a temporary resting place for one that is fatigued as hunters generally are." A North Italian Giltwood Side Table Italy circa 1780, having a pierced frieze carved with a stylised guilloche motif with honeysuckle enrichments, at the centre of the frieze is a high relief carved cartouche of hunting trophies, the table stands on turned, tapering, fluted and reeded legs with further honeysuckle carving above the reeding, below the frieze and joining the legs are boldly carved beribboned honeysuckle swags, throughout, the table retains its original gilding and original marble top, 135cm wide, 89cm high, 66cm diameter

A large 19th century walnut Black Forest rectangular wall clock, the broken arch pediment carved with a stag flanked by a pair of recumbent dogs, the single door with glazed panel flanked by pair of fox heads and carved hunting motifs, enclosing eight day movement with mother of pearl inlaid chapter ring set with Roman numerals around a carved central panel depicting a boar hunting scene, height 164cm. CONDITION REPORT: Replaced platform for movement to sit on (now plyboard). Stag antler missing. Losses to ear of two lower corner foxes. Cartouche in bottom section is missing an animal head. Glass on left panel is cracked. No worm.
A rare cased set of four George V hallmarked silver tortoiseshell mounted menu holders, each circular disc decorated with a different sport; hunting, golf, cricket and tennis, within a gilt heightened green leather case, E.S. Barnsley & Co. Ltd, Birmingham 1912, diameter of disc approx 3.2cm. CONDITION REPORT: Tennis menu holder has split where the front section meets the frame. This is a clean break but would require attention. Makers marks are also rubbed on the tennis example. The cricket example does not have any marks on it and also has a tiny 3mm loss of silver inlay depicting the crease.
