A marble bust of Brian Hubert Hill (1847-1893), late 19th century, on a rectangular plinth incised on reverse 'Gaffin Sc.Lon', 23" high. Brian Hubert Hill was a Land Agent. His early death was the result of a hunting accident and he is buried in the church at Weston under Redcastle. The west window was given in memory of him. His widow had the bust made from his death mask. The sculptor Thomas Gaffin, son of Edward Gaffin, worked with his father at their workshop in Regent Street where they were renowned for their prolific production of monuments and memorial tablets, running into thousands. Works by the Gaffin firm include Lord Clyde at Westminster Abbey, 1863 and Sir Thomas Reade Congleton, Cheshire 1849
A 17th century Spanish ebony and bone papeleira, the eight drawers with fielded panels applied with bone rectangular engraved seasonal and various hunting scenes, some inscribed 'Laner, Fabre, Mar, Abril, Maig, Gvn, Gviloi, Agost, Satambre, Octvbre, Noembre, Dasmbre' with central recessed drawer engraved with Ibertn and Otorio, flanked by concealed architectural drawers, similarly decorated overall with rectangles of birds and animals including bears, an elephant and a pelican in her piety, on bun feet, on a similar stand with a frieze drawer, lyre shaped end supports and two steel brackets, 115cm high x 53.5cm deep x 92cm wide (some damage, the stand later)
