Two vellum indentures, 10th December 1733 & 2nd July 1781, both granting from The Lord Bishop of Gloucester, the rights to hunt deer in part of the forests in Herefordshire, both with wax seals attached, each approx. 53 x 63 cm The hunting of deer at this time was reserved to a very privileged few, and punishment of transportation was often given to those caught poaching deer. Documents granting rights to hunt deer are scarce. (2)
