A silver trinket box probably Dutch with import mark for Chester 1908. The box of oval design with all over decoration, the lid with repousse decoration of a classical naked maiden under a tree with two hunting dogs, the edging decorated with cherubs and standing on four cabriole legs with supporting stretchers.
A 17th/Early 18th Century Bronze Nest of Weights. The circular lid with a dog head handle and hinge. The tapering bucket form weight outer weight enriched with bands of punchwork including a scene with men & hounds hunting boar. Each weight stamped `COBLENZ` with punch-work eagles. 4¾ (12 cms) in height, 5 ins (13 cms) in width.
A Large & Impressive 18th Century Marquetry Cassoné. The cedar wood lid inlaid with an oval figured walnut centre panel framed by broad cross-banded borders with a deep moulded edge enriched with carving. The tapering sides marquetried with pen-worked ivory & wood veneers depicting hunting scenes edged in beading, with boldly carved grotesque headed scrolls of foliage projecting from the corners above a gadrooned base raised on scaly paw feet, 32½ ins (82.5 cms) high, 70 ins x 27 ins (178 cms x 69 cms).
A Fine 17th Century Ebonised Table Cabinet. The top & sides mounted with pierced brass corner brackets and two carrying handles. The front fitted with nine ripple moulded ebonised drawers inset with engraved bone panels capturing scenes of rural life with men hunting, fishing and defecating in landscape, bordered by bone divides enriched with pen-work embellishments. The long central door inlaid with an arched panel depicting a young woman above a lower panel with a reclining soldier. The door opening to reveal a marbled paper lined interior housing two small drawers flanking a winged cherub-head divide that fronts a secret sliding drawer. Raised on bun feet 20½ ins (52 cms) in height, 24¾ ins (63 cms) in width, 11¾ ins (30 cms) in depth.
Attributed to Theodor Van Thulden (1606 1676). A Fine Quality 17th Century Oil on Panel of Artemis & Actaeon depicted with Artemis accompanied by a hunting dog and quiver of arrows at her feet, with Actaeon slaying a boar and a cherub reaching out to its bleeding head. 13¾ ins x 9¾ ins (35 cms x 25 cms). In a tortoiseshell & ebonised frame with ripple moulded borders measuring 22½ ins x 18½ ins (57 cms x 47 cms). [Detailed restoration report available from Salv Artes S.P.R.L conservators; Leefdaal].
