Aldin (Cecil). Golf, published Lawrence & Bullen, 1901, chromolithograph, 28 x 34cm, framed in light oak and glazed. From the series of twelve 'Traditional British Sports'. Following the enormous popularity of his Fallowfield Hunt series (1899) and Bluemarket Races series (1901), Aldin produced Old English Sporting Pictures (1901). Similar in style to William Nicholson's An Almanac of Twelve Sports (1898), the twelve prints featured scenes of cricket, racing, golf, curling, hunting, fishing, bowls, coursing, hawking, skating, shooting and coaching.
