John Gregory King (1929 - ), "Fernie" depicted four studies of hounds to include 'Forester 1966', 'Painter 1965', 'Cracker 1965' and 'Banker 1966', signed, inscribed and dated 1969, watercolour over pencil, 32 x 47cm.; 12.5 x 18.5in. * He was strongly influenced by the sporting artist Lionel Edwards and although brought up to farm, he began to draw and paint from an early age. A founder member of the Society of Equestrian Artists, King has had many exhibitions and his hunting and polo pictures have been reproduced as prints and illustrations for numerous books and magazines.

An early 19th century French Empire ormolu mounted ebonised eight-day portico mantel clock, the outside countwheel bell-striking movement with engine-turned silvered Roman numeral dial within acanthus cast gilt bezel and with swinging cherub pendulum, the case with gilt hunting hound surmount over laurel and feather cast mounted entablature supported on four embellished Doric columns with gilt capitals and bases, on plinth base with conforming mount and compressed bun feet, 58cm high.
