A collection of eight Pratt ware pot lids housed in circular wooden frames, to include "Red Riding Hood", "Alas Poor Bruin", "Ice-skating scene", "bear wearing crown seated in a throne", "lady falconer", "dog with baby in basket", "gentlemen bear hunting with dog in foreground", "bear at top of a pole with spectators looking on", together with a Pratt ware pot and pot lid of mushroom form and a small Prattware mug depicting dog with baby in a wicker basket (10) CONDITION REPORTS Please note that this lot description has been amended and now includes only the eight items specifically listed. The Duke of Wellington is NOT in this lot. in the description above. Ice skating lid - crazing, some light scratches, firing fault or small scratch to 3 o'clock position to outer edge. Bear hunters lid - significant crazing, some scratches including one under the dog's muzzle running to the feet. Bear and log/pole lid - large crack probably a break running all the way through lid from 5 to 10'clock positions, some crazing, some scratches and wear particularly to left side and above the lion cage. Alas! poor Bruin lid - crack and possibly break from 2 to 8o'clock across centre, crazing throughout, some small scratches, paint worn to bear's back, various chips to lid verso. Baby sleeping lid - some small scratches and marks throughout, some crazing. Goldilocks lid - some crazing, some scratches, some firing faults to right side. Bear and lion - some scratches and crazing, slightly larger scratch from bear's elbow down to throne. Mushroom shaped pot - small scratches throughout, some small chips and nibbles to pot and lid, some wear to gilt, firing faults to base. Mug - wear to gilt, crazing throughout, some small scratches. All items general wear and tear. Inhouse packing service available upon request (please see our Moore Allen website for details). The lady falconer is broken in half and with chips and wear.
A Jasper ware style cheese dome decorated with hunting scene and oak leaf and acorn sprays, together with two Wedgwood Jasper ware biscuit barrels with plated mounts and an Adams Jasper ware style vase and a modern Jasper ware jardinier CONDITION REPORTS The cheese dome has been broken and repaired in several places. There are further cracks which have yet to be touched. The knob handle has been off and re-glued badly. There is crazing to the glaze and staining as well. The base is dirty and has firing faults and signs of crazing and scratches conducive with age and wear and tear. The green Jasper ware biscuit barrel has been broken and repaired badly. The other three pieces have general wear and tear conducive with age and use, to include surface scratching, dirt, etc. See images for more details.
William Rodgers Hunting Knife, with 14cm length blade. Housed in the original leather scabbard. Forte of the blade stamped with William Rodgers mark and Made in Sheffield to the other side. Accompanied by a similar hunting knife by William Rodgers with 11 ½ cm blade, housed in the original leather scabbard and another William Rodgers hunting knife with 10cm blade, housed in the original leather scabbard. All remain in good overall condition. (3 items)
William Rodgers Hunting Knife, with 16 ¾ cm blade. Housed in its original leather scabbard which is stamped Made in Sheffield England. Blade forte stamped with William Rodgers makers mark and Sheffield England to the other side. Leather scabbard shows some wear and has some splits etc. Accompanied by a William Rodgers stag grip hunting Bowie style knife by William Rodgers with 10cm length blade, housed in the original leather scabbard and a similar example with 12 ¼ cm length blade. William Rodgers Hunting Knife with Wooden Top Pommel, blade 12cm in length with William Rodgers and Made in Sheffield England stampings to the forte of the blade. Housed in the original leather scabbard, the scabbard retaining the original securing strap to the top. Accompanied by similar miniature example with wooden top pommel, the blade length being 6cm. Accompanied by a American Western Boulder Colorado hunting knife with 12cm length blade, housed in brown leather scabbard; modern American Western USA 71 hunting knife with 12 ¼ cm blade complete with leather scabbard and a wooden handled hunting knife stamped CK continental made to the forte, complete with brown leather scabbard. A heavy 19th Century Continental (or even Mexican) Hunting Knife, straight fullered blade 9.75”, recurved iron crosspiece, 2 piece riveted staghorn grips, in its leather covered sheath, the front with quill-work decoration involving laurel wreaths, blade heavily refinished, some age wear, good condition.
A German Skinning Knife, blade stamped FR X REDLER, 2-piece staghorn grips, in its leather sheath; a dagger with straight shallow diamond section blade, casein grip with pressed silver mounts and short cross-piece; and a Chinese military-style hunting knife in its steel sheath with leather frog, average good condition. A quartetto of 19th century lacquered and painted papier mache tables, the top table of shaped outline and painted with hunting dogs and with painted and gilt border, two further tables also painted with dogs and one with inlaid mother of pearl chessboard top. Width 61 cm (see illustration).
