John Frederick Tayler (1802-1889) - Watercolour - Hunting scene in woods with young huntsman and three hounds to foreground, 17.5ins x 22ins, initialled FT and dated 1876, in gilt moulded and shaped frame and glazed. Provenance : J. & W. Vokins, 14-16 Gt. Portland Street, London with label indicating it belonged to Lady Gordon Cathcart of Tintners Park, Sunninghill, Berkshire and subsequently left to R.E.L. Spalding, and thence by family descent
A mid 18th century hunting sword, slender tapering fullered blade 22”, with narrow back fuller to central section and faint traces of etching, brass crossguard with spiral fluted centre section (finials bent), finely spiral fluted ivory grip (cracked along the back edge) rounded pommel cap embossed with lion’s head and shell, stud button tip. 19th century AD. A light hunting crossbow with wooden stock, iron trigger and guard; iron bow arms with lateral guards in the body, hooks for attachment of bowstring; mounted on a custom made stand. Property of an American lady; acquired 1970s-1990s. 5 kg total, 89 x 91cm including stand (35 x 35 3/4"). [No Reserve] Fair condition; stock split, some worm damage.
AFTER J F HERRING "Full Cry" and "The Meet", a pair of colour engravings, together with AFTER SNAFFLES "Carpet Beaters v Bobbery Wallahs", modern colour print and two further hunting prints CONDITION REPORTS The two After Herring foxhunting scenes are modern prints, but still with some discolouration. The After Sturgis "Honour to whom honour is due" has some discolouration to the edge of the mount, otherwise sound. The After Henry Alken "You are worth double ...." basically sound but with some browning throughout to the white areas. Frames all modern and with various wear and tear.
AFTER E A S DOUGLAS "Ten miles from kennels" and "A roadside meet", hunting scenes, heightened engravings, a pair CONDITION REPORTS Images basically sound and of good colour. The frames have what appear to be mended or restored cracks to the veneers, but they appear to be quite new so this is possibly just an effect to give the illusion of age.

AFTER HENRY ALKEN - a set of eleven colour prints of hunting and coaching scenes CONDITION REPORTS Twelve engravings, all with some discolouration/waterstaining throughout, see example close-up images. Frames of oak, previously darker but now very rubbed and with white marks suggesting liming, although this may be signs of polish as some of the image appear to have polish residue to the corners of the glass. Frames approx 13 x 60cm, images approx 11 x 58cm. All prints with taped backs (see example image).

There is varying condition throughout this lot, some good, and others poor. Frames similar. Please see images.
An antler handled hunting knife in brown leather case CONDITION REPORTS Length of blade approx 17.5cm, length of whole knife approx 29.5cm. Knife has wear and tear to include some pitting and surface scratches to the blade, the sheath end - stitching is coming away and there is a hole. Case may have been restitched and rivetted. The leather buckle holding in the blade has been rescrewed to the sheath. There are knocks, scratches, dents etc. Knife is slightly too long for the sheath.
A wooden whip rack in the form of a four bar gate, together with a three various crops / whips, a leather hunting horn holder, two holly handled driving whips and a plaited Swaine & Adeney sandwich box in leather case CONDITION REPORTS The whip rack has signs of old woodworm, and has been restrengthened to the back, the smaller crop has no leather tongue, the antler handle is cracked to the base, silver ferule inscribed "EM de Wolf", 1 riding crop has string holding leather tongue in place appears to have been reglued, ferule initialled "MGC", thong has been repaired and is looking as though it is breaking again, the second riding crop - leather is coming away between the shaft and the ferules. All three items have significant wear with age and use. Hunting horn holder - leather strapwork broken to top and restitched to the base, the sandwich tin has knocks, tarnish, pitting, buckles are corroded, leather is scuffed and brittle, strap is loose, hole to bottom corner. Both holly whips - handles distressed, shaft to one has crazing to varnish, both thongs have been repaired. All items have heavy wear.

A black hunting jacket, together with two gentleman's tweed jackets CONDITION REPORTS Black hunting jacket has a small patch of wear to the front left side (when looking from front), cuffs appear to have been shortened / turned up. Derby tweed coat is missing a button. The Lambourne jacket has heavy wear around the cuffs, a number of snags and pulls to the fabric, the lining has been repatched and is torn in several places. Please see images for more details. All items have wear and tear conducive with age and use.
