dating: 13th Century provenance: Bali, Undulated, double-edged blade in pamor, in one piece with anthropomorphic grip. Togetehr with an expertise of the Hunting and Fishing Museum in Monaco from November 14th 1983, in which it is attested that the kris dates back to the 13th century. length 22.5 cm.
dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Niederneisen(Ger), Octagonal, 15 mm cal. barrels, in damask, the upper one is rifled, with rear and fore-sight, the lower one is smooth-bore and of the same caliber, round rib on the right side, in another kind of damask, signed with remains of gold 'COSTER UND BEIDELBACH IN NIEDERNEISSEN'; long tang with beautiful, engraved hunting and floral motifs; backward spring locks, decorated en suite and with safety lock. Wooden butt with patchbox, iron mounts with the same decorations, trigger-guard extended forward and ending in a lion's head in high-relief. Brass-tipped ramrod on the left side and iron cartridge extractor. length 115 cm.
dating: circa 1900 provenance: Germany, Single-and false-edged blade with tang, first part finely engraved with a hunter, hunting scene, trophy and floral motifs; brass hilt with a small shell-guard, quillon and loop-guard ending in a deer's hoof, ivory grip scales. Leather scabbard with brass mounts and knife. length 50 cm.

PUCCINI GIACOMO: (1858-1924) Italian Composer. A.L.S, G. `Puccini´, one page, 4to, Torre del Lago, Toscana, 6th July 1907, on his personal printed stationery, to Beppe, Giuseppe Razzi, his brother in law, in Italian. Puccini writes a letter in bold red ink, stating in part `Thank you for all and for the car driver. Regarding the chairs you ordered, do you remember? Did you get further news? How are you? We are fine. When will you visit us?..´ Puccini further asks for news regarding some friends and concludes referring to hunting `I got the birds´. With blank address leaf, also written in red by Puccini, post-stamped. With left edge slightly trimmed as a result of the letter opening, otherwise VG £800-1200
PRISHVIN MIKHAIL: (1873-1954) Russian Soviet Writer. T.L.S., `M. Prishvin´, in Cyrillic, Moscow, one page, oblong 4to, 14th July 1935, to Alexander Ksenofontovich, in Cyrillic. Prishvin states in part `I have recently returned back home, without abandoning the idea of having at my disposal an excellent boat manufactured by you. I understand that it is easier said than done, or than desired, but I dare to ask you how far advanced is the work, and if I can count on hunting this autumn.´ further saying `Tell Nicholas Ivanovitch Orlov that I did remember my promise to write to him from Arkhangelsk, but decided not to do it, because I was exhausted after the journey and was in hurry to get home. Imagine…fifteen grouses caught with traps in only one morning, the amount of birds not decreasing.. the amateur hunting is meaningless in that region.´ Small overall age wear, with two small areas of paper loss to the left edge and upper right corner, none affecting the text or signature. ELISABETH OF AUSTRIA: (1837-1898) Empress of Austria, Queen of Hungary and Queen Consort of Croatia and Bohemia 1854-98, spouse of Emperor Franz Joseph I. Assassinated. A rare, attractive signed greetings card, the stiff oblong folding 12mo card (now neatly split into two halves at the central vertical fold) featuring a decorative colour floral design to the front cover and a printed caption ('Besten Gluckwunsch') in German to the inside, signed ('Elisabeth') by the Empress to the verso and with a five line greeting in her hand, in German, in full, 'May the lucky wings fulfil their mission and bring a wholehearted wish to you, from your faithful old friend'. VG £2000 - 3000Elisabeth of Bavaria (also affectionately known as 'Sisi') was, at 44 years, the longest serving Empress-Consort of Austria and had married her husband, Franz Joseph I, at the age of sixteen. Elisabeth was ill-prepared for the formal Habsburg court life and early in her marriage she was at odds with her mother-in-law, Princess Sophie, who took over the rearing of Elisabeth's daughters. The birth of a male heir, Rudolf, improved her standing at court considerably. However, the death of Rudolf and his mistress in a murder-suicide tragedy at his hunting lodge in Mayerling in 1889 had a huge impact on Elisabeth from which she never fully recovered. She withdrew from court duties and travelled extensively, unaccompanied by her family. Unusually tall, particularly beautiful and with long, flowing hair, Elisabeth became obsessively concerned with maintaining her youthful figure and beauty, spending two or three hours each day on her coiffure. While travelling in Geneva in 1898 she was stabbed to death by an Italian anarchist.
KANGXI IMPERIAL EDICT: An excellent and rare KangXi scroll painting, being an Imperial Mandarin appointment edict. Issued on the 34th year of KangXi (1695), 15th of April. A 107 x 12.5 painting scroll (273 x 32 cm), rare version with hand-drawn dragons hunting the Flaming Pearl, on shantung silk in different colours, pasted on canvas, only used for appointment of highest Grades. Stamped with six Imperial seals, gouache over silk. Refers to General AiXin Jue Luo, Ba Er Tu (1673-1753), 4th son of Prince KangLiang, and his wife. The end piece is missing, overall age wear with tears, very small holes and with edges slightly affected. A very unusual and attractive scroll. G £2000-3000Provenance, Sophus Black collection. Sophus Black (1882-1960) was a Danish telegraph company executive and art collector. Black worked for the Great Northern Telegraph Company in China from 1902 to 1931. He learned the language, lived according to the country´s customs and acquired objects for his extensive collection. Part of his collection is at the National Museum of Denmark.
Late 18th Century Staffordshire pearlware jug painted with a basket of flowers, 19.75cm high, an early 19th Century pearlware jug with painted botanical decoration, possibly Swansea, 17.5cm high, an early 19th Century Staffordshire pink lustre relief jug decorated with a hunting scene, 15.5cm high, a small 18th Century creamware baluster jug painted with a romantic couple in a garden, 14cm high and an early 19th Century Staffordshire polychrome transfer printed jug decorated reserves depicting a hound and bird, birds amongst foliage and a romantic couple in a landscape, 16.5cm high (5) Condition: Reports in order of cataloguing - 1: three pointed star shaped crack below the basket decoration approximately 25mm in diameter, the base with faint 40mm long hairline crack and further bruise/crack to the foot rim not visible from the outside, small chip to the underside of the spout and crazing and staining around the upper rim. 2: some very minor losses to the enamel decoration and losses to the enamel decoration particularly around the top rim near the spout, 3: Honiton jug with hairline crack form the rim descending approximately 30mm, rubbing to the lustre top rim, 4: star cracks to the base over approximately one third the area of the base with a further foot rim chip, crack running horizontally through the lower part where the handle joins approximately 100mm in length, wear to the top rim, 5: extensive restoration around the top third with overpainting, crack through the foot and restoration to the handle - **General condition consistent with age
