A set of vintage Beswick fox hunting figures, a bull and a calf. Including two riders, a fox and four hounds. Max. H21cm Condition Report: Overall in good-very good condition. One of the dogs has a broken (but present) tail. Otherwise there are no apparent cracks, chips or restoration. Some slight wear including rubbing. Some pieces have light crazing to the glaze and others would benefit from a clean.

Fairly stiffly relined, cleaned and revarnished. Now with general surface dirt and discoloured varnish in evidence. Paint surface thin in places and somewhat abraded by restoration process. Relatively pronounced fine to medium spaced craquelure throughout canvas, although most notable throughout the sky. Some patches of surface bloom. Several passages of overpainting, retouching and infilling notable under UV light. Consistant areas of infillling, likely to old craquelure, through the sky.

Peepshow.- Peep at the Fox Chace (A), hand-coloured aquatint peepshow with 7 panels including front and back, front engraved on pink paper with decorative title of hunting motifs & verse around large oval viewing aperture filled with hand-coloured etched scene when flat, folding concertina-style, c.115 x 140mm. extending to c.600mm., back panel inscribed "J.Gibbs the gift of Mas. J.Hardwick Oct. 19th 1836" on verso, front panel rather soiled and stained, creased and repaired at edges, a few other repairs, with original board slip-case, rubbed and stained, [Hyde/Gestetner 211; Schwerdt 2, p.64], 1829; and 6 hand-coloured etched panels from a German peepshow of a boarhunt (lacking bellows), oblong 8vo (2)
