Early 20th Century Garniture, comprising a mantel clock, with silvered dial, inscribed, "English case\German movement", striking on a gong, contained within a brass case with urn finial, cast cornice and Moorish front, North African arched form and with a cast and painted scene of Arab figures and an elephant, on a rectangular base and scrolled feet and a pair of matching Side Vases, each with an appliqué panel, decorated with a hunting scene, one of a lion, the other rhinoceros, each piece with impressed number.
A large 1930's Thomas Webb clear crystal vase of shouldered ovoid form with a tall collar neck decorated with a large rectangular mitre cut panel with a fine intaglio cut and engraved hunting party to a country landscape, signed H.J. Boam, bears acid stamp to the base, height 25cm. ILLUSTRATED.

Alaskan Brown Bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), Admiralty Island, North Pacific, May 1913, by Rowland Ward, head mount, with snarling open jaw, the oak shield with ivorine plaque inscribed as above, vestiges of original Rowland Ward label and gouged mark See illustration. Provenance: Laurence Cadbury Collection. Part of a collection of mounted big game trophies brought back from Alaska, North America and East Africa in 1913 and 1934 by Laurence Cadbury. Many of his specimens were mounted by Rowland Ward, and were sold by James & Lister Lea in a marquee at "The Davids", Hole Lane, Northfield, Birmingham 17th and 18th November 1988. This was lot 738 and was illustrated in the catalogue. A full mount Alaskan Brown Bear was sold in the same sale as lot 736, and this example is recorded in Rowland Ward's Records of Big Game, vol II. This example was probably shot during the same hunting trip.

These are record class horn measurements. Many of the horns recorded in Rowland Ward's Records of Big Game, indeed the world record example (34 3/8 inches) were taken in the famous Gredos hunting grounds.
