A mid to late 19th Century Northern Italian (lombardy) carved fruitwood and marquetry inlaid Cassapanca or box seat. The carved and raised surmount with central Stemma Nobile (coat of arms) flaked by winged guardians above a fine marquetry inlaid panel of contrasting woods and bone to depict a stag huntings scene with dogs and huntsmen, all within a carved cushion moulded surround. The hinged lift up seat with stylised foliate inlay enclosing internal storage and between substantioal carved winged beast form arms. The lower stage having conforming inlaid panel depicting a boar hunting scene, all raised on carved feet, dimensions approx 135cm x 107cm x 40cm

These very beautiful and colorful miniatures show fine craftmanship. The paintings show a prince hunting tigers and courting a lady or princes. They are painted on white stone riddled with silvery flecks. The miniatures are in separate frames, without frame they are 15 by 10 cm. They are in verry good condition.
